Thoughts:
I loved this! I was enthralled, enchanted and enamored by this lively fae story that moved fast and kept me riveted from beginning to the end. There just weren’t any dull moments. The characters were fun and each was on a trip of self-discovery. This is a story that would be perfect for tweens and teens . But… it’s not just for the young. I really enjoyed it, too, and I’m in my 60s.

The characters shined! Alicia was raised as a human who could see the fae. All she knew about the fae royal kingdoms, she had learned from her father’s journal. As she and her friend, Cassie, were vacationing on South Padre Island, Deveron, a dark fae. made a move on Cassie. Alicia literally pours cold water on him to put a halt to his shenanigans. Deveron decides that he will enjoy paying her back. He might be surprised, though, to find the tables turned on him.
Bottom-line: If you like to escape to magical fantasy worlds with fun romances, captivating characters and non-stop. entertaining adventure, rush to whatever bookstore you use, and buy this book now!
And another review!!!
Loved this fun review of The Dark Fae also!
“What an amazing read. The Dark Fae is so dark and twisty, while at the same time amusing and flirty. This is the first Terry Spear book I’ve ever read and I have to say I’m astonished at the creativity that went into this first installment of the World of Fae series. I was riveted from the very first sentence. Alicia is a smart aleck who doesn’t quite know when to back off. She had me laughing more times than I can count. Even though she’s scared for her life, she’s tough and won’t back down. I respect that in a heroine. Deveron is delicious and dangerous. He’s the bad boy we all love and he will not let readers down. All of the drama with the dark fae vs. the human world really kept me enthralled. I couldn’t wait to find out whether Alicia would get caught and what would happen to her if she did. Oh and let’s not forget the romance. Wowzers! Alicia and Deveron are hot together…mostly due to the fact that she’s always sniping at him. Like I said, very amusing. This is a couple all readers will root for. They’re the couple who doesn’t belong together so of course, we all want them to make it. The Dark Fae is definitely a must read and I will be recommending it to everyone I know. I can’t wait to devour the rest of the series!”

Fun with Bears! When I'm Taking a Break from Books!

I've always loved fantasy worlds, so when I was playing around with creating bears, I began to make wizards, vampires, fairies, angels, and even Santa Claus. :) And then of course, the usual! :)

If you ever had a chance to have a bear, what would you prefer? The usual, or something out of the ordinary?

And here are the...usual!

Back to working on Her Highland Hero! Hope to reach 45,000 words today! And hope to have it done by next weekend!!! :)

Have a lovely Thursday! The sun is out today! Which means it's going to be hot!

New Highland Book Coming! Her Highland Hero!

Please vote and have a chance to win too. You are really helping The Dark Fae to move up in the votes. She was waaaay last, and now she’s in third place but only a vote behind 2nd place! Thanks, thanks, thanks! If you have ever loved a fae, thought of a fae, been a fae, hated a fae, wanted a fae, wanted to be a fae, give her a vote, please??? The underdog is the middle dog now! Woohoo, thanks to everyone who has voted for her. http://www.parajunkee.com/2014/05/26/vote-for-your-favorite-ya-audiobook-giveaway-sultry-listeners-awards/

So in between rain showers, I ran a bunch of errands. I have a painter coming this weekend to repaint my ceilings and I had to buy spray paint to paint the wrought iron. It’s coming along nicely. But I have to share a funny.
When I’m at the checkout counter, the clerk asked, “You’re over 18, aren’t you?”
Waaaay over 18. So at first, it took me aback. I mean, really?
Then I realized what it was about. Spray paint. Kids buying it to get high on it.
I didn’t say yes. I just said with a great big smile, “Thank you for asking. I haven’t had anyone ask that in years.”
LOL
She laughed and said she asked a man that and he assured her he was 85. And told her a couple of times. LOL
So, as I was spray painting, it was windy as usual. And though the wind was blowing away from me, I kept getting whiffs of the stuff.
Soooo, will that improve my writing or not? Some of our greatest, most famous artists and writers were drug addicts and alcoholics. With my luck, I’d just be brain dead.
Back to writing and if you wanted to and hadn’t had a chance to, The Dark Fae still could use a LOT of votes.
She’s desperate, and when she’s desperate, she causes mischief for me.
Computer outages, electrical outages…oh, sure, I could blame it on the storm, but I know better.
It all has to do with the fae.
Have a super great hump day.
Over halfway done on Her Highland Hero and I’m working toward reaching 40,000 today!
her highland hero cover with title cursive3 (432x640)
A hero in a woman’s eye really isn’t about the muscle. :) Truly.
But it does make for an awfully nice cover. :)
Have a great day!

Fun in New Orleans!

Can you tell I had too much fun? I actually scratched him, but my partner in crime didn't take the picture accidentally, so I had to photoshop another of me at conference over hers. *sigh* because I had to be there with him. :)

Posters were in all of the elevators, but this one was the one I wanted to ride. :)

IMG_5940 (640x427)
I finally took a few pictures to share. If you wonder why my pictures seem to be the top of buildings, that’s because I was cutting out the multitudes of people, cars, etc. :)
Lots of fun in New Orleans for the Romantic Times Convention.

Finishing up Jaguar Pride edits, waiting on beta reader comments on A SEAL Wolf for Sale, have audiobook to approve for A Mage of Monrovia, AND, am working on The Viking's Highland Lass. Just opened the document. :)

So you see???

No more partying in NOLA. Time to get cracking!

Hope you’re having a great week!!!

Cover Reveal for Jaguar Pride!

Isn't he scrumptious??? Both of them!!! I love the black jaguar in the picture also. There are no such things as black cougars, but sometimes someone will say they saw one. This is definitely a black jaguar. And Huntley Anderson. JAG agent, Golden Claws. And he is teamed up with another JAG agent. They're just after poachers, but then find themselves taking care of jaguar shifter cubs, which presents a real problem. :) And Melissa isn't about to be the one holding the cubs while Huntley continues with the mission.

Lots of fun. Okay, all the guest blogs are done, the marketing stuff for A Silver Wolf Christmas is done, and today I have to spend the day working on Jaguar Pride edits. :)  And the next few days. Then I have to finish edits on A SEAL Wolf for Sale, and then it's time for The Viking's Highland Lass. :)

Have a great hump day! Does Huntley look like he needs a back massage???

http://storybundle.com/news “I’d like to invite you to join us on a journey of Romance: Past, Present and Paranormal. That was the inspiration for this bundle, to join masterfully told stories into a fun and romance-filled voyage. The caliber of this list is astonishing to me. We have three USA Today bestsellers and two RITA-award finalists. Most of these authors have appeared on Top 5 and Top 10 lists such as RT (Romantic Times), Barnes & Noble, and NPR to name just a few.

L. Buchman’s journey to a dozen lighthouses and Kay Stockham’s brilliant insights into what it takes to really see the light. Then journey into the paranormal with Kristine Grayson’s, well, irresistible start to an irresistible series of what happens when the Ancient Greek Fates start messing with modern romance, and Terry Spear’s tale of just how hot a vampire huntress can be on her path to true love.

Join us, too, for the bonus books: M.L. Buchman’s critically-acclaimed Night Stalkers series journeys to the White House, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s (aka Kristine Grayson) story finds a path from a dark past to a bright future. And Karen L. McKee is all those at once—past, present and paranormal—leading to true love as only she can write it. Please come join us on this romantic voyage.”

Shades of Moonlight by Karen L. McKee
The Bundle is available for a very limited time only, via http://www.storybundle.com/

Just got back from Romantic Times Readers Convention in New Orleans and had a ball, but now I’m trying to catch up on a million emails and things I have to do.

My editor sent me edits on Jaguar Pride, when she KNEW I was going to be at RT. Someone else asked for information for marketing and the cover info for A Silver Wolf Christmas when she KNEW I was going to be at RT. And the publicist sent me a bunch of guest blogs to do for the June release of Jaguar Hunt when she KNEW I was going to be at RT.

LOL

Soooooo, that means ALL of that, including my beta reader suggestions on A SEAL Wolf for Sale all came in at once, and everyone expects me to do something about it. Really. :)

But I will say I had a blast in New Orleans, from meeting reviewers, bloggers, librarians, readers, fans, authors, Sourcebooks staff, seeing the city and eating the delightful food in New Orleans, watching street dancers and the motorcycle cop who we thought was part of the show and wasn’t, and the handcuffed guy by the side of the road while the officer was unloading his vehicle to see what he had in there as I was leaving the city, hmmm, the graves sitting on top of the ground in someone’s yard– The interesting thing about that was that I was researching home burials and found it perfectly legal in several states, just as long as you don’t bury dead bodies anywhere near a water source. Burying live bodies is still illegal everywhere.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures. I had so many activities I was in charge of, I wasn’t sure if I would lose my camera in the process, soooooo, it kept getting left behind.

Romvet (640x323) copyI’ll post more pictures later, but I took this of one of the tables that was decorated for the Romance Veterans (Romvets) and for everyone who supports veterans worldwide really. We had a couple from Australia there too, and they were lovely who talked about their tradition of honoring the vets.

Romance veterans are women who write romance and served in the military. So we’re represented by every branch. It was a lot of fun. I took home two rubber duckies–one for the army since my mother and I served and I retired from the reserves, and one for the AF for my father, who retired from the AF active duty, and my son, who now serves on active duty with the AF. :)

I hope you haven’t missed me too much. Between not having a mouse to work with the laptop, and having to find time in between activities just to grab a bite to eat, it was hectic. But now I’m home!!!
And have tons of stuff to do!!! I need a vacation from my “vacation!”

Do you ever feel like that when you return from a trip???

Happy Tuesday!

A Faery Home in Progress

While I was at the RT readers convention, my friend, Donna Fournier, did a beautiful job creating a faery home. Now, her fae are small. Mine are not. So they wouldn't fit in this, but isn't it cute?

These are the steps she took to create it. Absolutely love it!

What do you think? Isn't it adorable?

Confetti Bear for a Whimsical Occasion!

Josie Confetti Bear (640x512)

Thanks to Bonnie for her order. I only have 3 of the confetti bears left. The fabric has been discontinued at the factory, though it’s been really popular for me and it’s a shame because it’s so different, there’s nothing like it out there. It reminds me of peppermint ice cream.

When I was at an arts and crafts show one time with my bears on display, a lady asked if I used markers on her. Nope. It’s permanently dyed that way at the factory. :)

I had another ask if I made the bears. Yes. I did. Then she asked where I bought the bear heads. Hmmmm. I…make them.

She asked again, “No, where do you buy them?”

I…MAKE…THEM.

I don’t think she believed me. :)  I usually would sit and embroider paws for orders while I was at a show. So some thought that I bought the bears and “fixed” them up. This was way before build a bear existed.

Isn’t she cute?

Okay, enough goofing off. Today I have to get to all the guest blogs and interviews that have accumulated, and then???

It’s off to another book adventure.

Highlanders. Vikings. Big swords. The Viking Highland’s Lass. Are you ready???

Aye!

THE END! For.... A SEAL Wolf for Sale!

????

Besides getting covers, which is totally fun, writing the book is the utmost fun!!! Saying THE END after weeks, months of writing on it, brainstorming, gnashing of teeth--not mine, but the wolves, it's finished. Not that it's finished, finished. Like ready to be out there tomorrow for the reading public. But the story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. What more could a writer want???

So it's off for review and I'll have edits, but the book is done.

*Big Sigh*

Because when I'm nearing the end of a book, I have to neglect everything else. So I have the big Jaguar Hunt tour coming up for June and have had to put it on hold until I could finish this book. Now, I have a stack of interviews and blogs to do. So the work is not done. Just a different kind of work.

And I'm excited about finishing a bear for an order.

And I cleaned my house. LOL

Storms are rumbling the whole time and I keep thinking how perfectly moody it is for writing on one of my partially written vampire books. But fans are waiting for The Viking's Highland Lass, so as soon as I catch up on the guest blogs and finish the bear, I'll be back to the Highlanders. :)

Have a super lovely evening!

Time to get back to work...blogs...or the bear. Hmm, if I work on the bear, I can watch a movie.....

What would you do if you were me?

Happy TGIF!!

The Snake Door Removeth

I've been doing some remodeling to snake proof my house. But in truth, I don't know where the two snakes came in. And my snake guard bird--the road runner--took off, so I couldn't rely on him to do

the job.bcd78-roadrunnerheadon-339x400

*sigh*

But I finally got some things done--replaced some windows and I'm so happy with them. The winds would blow my blinds around! And no, I didn't have my windows open for that to happen. The heat on the south side of the house would come through the windows, not noticed before, but once I moved my computer desk next to them, it was noticeable. Plus I worried about all the dust and dirt that constantly blew in from the fields surrounding me.

So, I finally ordered new windows. They are GREAT!
It's already been in the 90's and I only turned on a ceiling fan for a short while later yesterday afternoon, the house staying cool. If you touch the window on the outside, it's hot, but on the inside, it's cool. Yes!!! I feel like I'm in my castle now, with 6 foot wide walls that are keeping the cold and heat out.Dunnottar Castle entrance through narrow tunnel
My next project was to have a door removed and replace it with a wall.  The guys did an excellent job. It was the door to the outside to the laundry room, but when my parents added on to the house, another door was built that was the only one any of us used. The other had become obsolete. And I constantly had to clean up dirt and debris at the bottom of it, even though it had a storm door also. So they took care of that and now I have a wall instead of 3 doors going into the small laundry room. And no way for snakes to get in there. I also replaced the dryer vent outdoor flap. The top one had broken off, but if a snake, or two, had come in that way, they'd have had to have gone into the dryer.
Of course, I don't really know where the snakes came in from. I only know they ended up with me in the living room.  :)
But despite my road runner abandoning me, I'm feeling more secure. :)
It might be false security, but hopefully I've plugged up some of the bug holes also this way. You see, I've had a ton of flies get into the house. And hornets. And well, just about everything. I'm not leaving doors open. So hopefully, these changes will keep the bugs and critters at bay.
I'm doing my usual balancing act.
balancing act (272x640)
A fun show outside a restaurant at Disney World.

I have another conference to go to. I'm trying to finish up A SEAL Wolf for Sale, had a breakthrough on how to fix something that wasn't working for me, but still have 9,000 words to go. Hope to have finished writing it by Friday. And then spend a another couple of weeks editing it.

I have another blog tour coming up, which means I have to write tons more guest blogs and I'm not ready for that again. That's for Jaguar Hunt coming June 4.

I just received Scepter of Salvation audiobook to review, reviewed, takes at least 2 days and then sent back editing changes, narrator made the changes and then I approved it, paid her and it's up for review. But at the same time I got the revisions back, The Winged Fae came in for review. So I'm halfway done on that one. Though I had hoped to be working strictly on A SEAL Wolf for Sale all week.

:)

So it's a balancing act. Which has priority? In this case, all do.

So that's it! I'll take pictures of the new windows when I can find a picture of the old window to show a comparison to. :)  I don't think I had one of the laundry room door. *sigh* I should always take before and after pictures, reminder to self.

Off to finish up The Winged Fae, and then it's back to A SEAL Wolf For Sale.

Have a brilliantly fun Monday. Do you ever feel things are a balancing act? I set my priorities and it all gets done. What about you?

HEA in Equine World = Zonkey

Picutre of the zonkey and mother are pictured here:
http://www.peoplepets.com/people/pets/article/0,,20720375,00.html

One-half donkey + one-half zebra = A HEA  and one cute little zonkey!
The story of the zonkey in Florence, Italy says, “The story of Ippo’s birth reads like the equine equivalent of a romance novel. ” ABC News

The picture of the zonkey caught my attention first, but as a writer of romance novels, the story really caught my eye. I’ve used romances between wolves in my wolf stories. Will there be a zonkey shifter in the future? Probably not, but still, I love it.

The male zebra was rescued from a failing zoo. So you see, already you have the story: hero’s world turns upside down.

The female donkey was in the exhibit next to his. She is an endangered animal species. So our heroine is also rare and the future of her kind is uncertain.

Perfect conflict.

And they fell in love.

He actually climbed the fence between their exhibits to court her.

And baby Ippo was the result of their union.
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/rare-italian-born-baby-zonkey-good-health/story?id=19769860

And that’s what I love. HEA

Happy Saturday!!!

http://www.longandshortreviews.com/uncategorized/april-mainstream-book-of-the-month-poll/

And I got these two great reviews for more big kitty cats!
Jaguar Fever is book two in the Heart of the Jaguar series by Terry Spear.

So you would think she could stay out of trouble, right? Not Maya! She has discovered a bar that is frequented by shifters like herself. And she wants to meet other eligible male shifters. Also, she has been contacted by two long lost cousins so they are going to meet her there. But she didn’t anticipate the reaction she would get from the single male shifters when a new wild jaguar shifter enters the bar. And, she didn’t anticipate running into Wade Patterson.

Wade and his brother David are going to the bar on a job. Little did he know that this would be the night Maya Anderson would walk back into his life. Its been five months since they got back from the Amazon jungle. They never really met but they knew each other’s scent. Wade had been under the impression that Maya was romantically involved with Connor, not that they were brother and sister. So once he realizes that Maya is single and available, he knows he wants her.
“I haven’t been in a good catfight in years.” Wade glanced in the rearview mirror at Maya. “But the prize this time was definitely worth fighting for.” Carol, Goodreads Addict

Savage Hunger is book one in the Heart of the Jaguar series by Terry Spear. What I love most about Terry Spear’s books is that they grab you right away and keep you invested until the very last page. And that is exactly how I feel about this book.

Imagine being a Jaguar shifter but not being able to find any others like you. Of there being no hope in sight of finding a mate, someone to share life with, have children with. This is the life Conner Anderson and his sister, Maya have been given. Abandoned by their parents long ago, they are all each other has. They stay under the radar, owning a large gardening business in Texas. But twice a year, they vacation to the Amazon to let their jaguars run free. And this is exactly what they were doing one year ago when Conner first encountered Katherine McKnight.
“He told himself it was fate that had made them cross paths, providence that had brought them together again.”
These three have quite an adventure, both dangerous and comical at times. I love that Terry Spear’s books have everything, humor, sweet romance, and plenty of gripping suspense. I plan to go directly into the next book to see what comes next.

Book Signing in Chicago

I was in Chicago for the Spring Fling last week. Had a lovely time with Bonnie Gill and saw the downtown area, stayed at the Palmer House, ate Chicago pizza, saw Lake Michigan and lots more. Here I was at the book signing.

Autographed books at 200 Gary Ave, Bloomingdale, IL, and 590 E Golf Road Schaumburg!

It was cold in Chicago, though it warmed up a bit, and then got cold again. When I left, it was about 45. And I got home to 85 degree weather!

Had fun! And do you believe it's May already???
