I made up my last Penny Bear. She actually has faux suede paws.  The color didn’t turn out in the photo. She looks more like the picture above, color-wise.

This is the last I have of this fabric. I’ve always loved it. It’s really soft and it looks like a really light mauve, yet placed against mauve, it looks like a light brown, yet placed against brown, it looks like a really light mauve. :)

I was having fun showing off some of my Christmas fairies, but taking pictures of them with the regular lens wasn’t doing them justice. So I took some of them with the macro lens.

And that is the magic of Christmas!

Everything’s decorated, cleaned, and while I’m waiting for family to arrive, I finished proofing the print version of The Vampire…In My Dreams

I had a wild dream this morning. The sharp-shinned hawk has been flying around the area, and my birds have all but disappeared. I saw one of the cardinals the other day on a feeder, but nothing is eating the seeds I’ve left out for them like they usually do. So it’s bugging me. I loved seeing the hawk, but I love hearing all the song birds and seeing them come for food. *sigh*


Which is why I had the most bizarre dream, I think. I saw the hawk and ran out to take pictures of it. I left my back door open and a black bear cub ran inside the house. (Remember, this is a dream. I don’t want anyone to think I’m a Texas Tall Tale Teller–not that I don’t tell stories–in my books, but…)
Then the sow was looking for her cub. So I’m on the phone to 9-1-1, trying to get them to send someone out to get the cub out of my house. Of course, I’m trying to take pictures of it while I’m talking. You know. To share with my fans. :) While talking on the phone. I’m afraid to try and open the door and let him out and let the sow in. Soooo, what a dilemma. Plus, I had to rush the dog (that I don’t have), into a back bedroom so that the bear didn’t try to kill it. The dog is barking her head off–it’s a big dog, not any breed I’ve ever had, and in fact, I think it’s a mutt of some sort–the house isn’t mine either, just the treed backyard.


Soooo, dream analyzers, what does this mean?

Probably that I need to write about bear shifters next. :)
Okay, enough about dreams. It’s time to proof another book so I can write on Phantom Fae! :)
Do you have weird dreams? Do you believe they’re just a way of dealing with all the stuff going on in your life or something deeper? A fellow author is part Native American and her dreams come to her and she was told she needed to share these stories. That’s how she comes up with her books! I wish it would happen like that for me. Dream about it and write it. Wouldn’t that be neat?

Hey, even neater, if you could just have electrodes sending a signal from your brain, attached to the computer and the computer writes everything down while you’re dreaming. Next morning, you could edit it. Hmmmm….sounds like a cool futuristic story to me.

Did I mention that Her Highland Hero is in audiobook form? I’ve had so many things happen at once, that I’m not sure what I’ve shared and what I haven’t. The narrator is from Scotland, and I love her voice.

Don’t you love it? I need to get it made up so I can have it at my book signings.  Linda Boulanger of Telltale Designs made the cover and she does a beautiful job.  The last three conferences I went to, nearly all the authors had some fancy big banner behind them. The ones I fell in love with had something like this. Not a ton of book covers, which for me is a problem since I have like 50-60 books out, so that would be a mess to look at. Plus, I have so many different genres I write, she was trying to combine them and still make it look great–so wolves, cougars, a Highland castle, the moon, which always gives that paranormal feel, and they’re in between urban fantasy and historical, so I love it. And I love blue, so it works for me.  What do you think?

Next, I was having conversations with myself this morning, not out loud, but I’ve been brainstorming about how I need to finish up the book. Though I’m also working on an article for another site. I have another to do also. Less than 8,000 words to go on Call of the Cougar!

And I have a question. Is this an OLD cardinal? I have two like this with graying feathers. And then I have a brilliant red one. Is this just different ones, or does this mean the two like this are older? Inquiring minds want to know.  I’ve only seen the bright red one before, so it might be that these other two just found my sunflower seeds. Or it could be that they are the older generation. I had two baby cardinals in a nest this spring, then again, the only cardinal I’d seen before this was the brilliant red on with his mate. And the two in the nest were brown, so I figured they were females. Hmmm, I probably should be thinking more about how to finish Call of the Cougar, but this has become curiouser and curiouser.

On Facebook, several thought they might be moulting! That's it! Looked it up, and that's what it is. So instead of one bright red male cardinal, I have 2 moulting and 1 that's still bright red. I would never have known I had three if it hadn't been that they were moulting! And came down to feed at the same time.

Finished! A Silver Wolf Christmas! And Tomorrow: Tall, Dark and Paranormal Releases!

There’s nothing more fun than finishing a book! Then after I finished reading it and sending it off to beta readers, it was time to cut out more bear orders. Received 4 more yesterday. Somehow, I don’t think I’m getting ahead of the game!

It’s amazing what a few hours will do–turn fur into fun creations. The two on the left are finished, though I still have to embroider all their paws. But the bears and outfits are made. And here they are! The other 4 are ready with their vests in their laps and their hats in progress. Have to make new style dresses for them.  On the rainbow bears, the one is ready to be embroidered. The next needs a nose and he’s ready to be embroidered. The last needs a head, eyes, ears and a nose, and then he needs to be embroidered.

If I was only making bears, I’d have them all done by now. But my day job…and night, is writing. So I do the bears AFTER I get my writing done. Or…like yesterday while I was working on rereading A Silver Wolf Christmas for the last time, I was working on the two Steampunk bear hats at the same time. I usually don’t do that, but they’re not furry, so I could. Fur in the keyboard probably wouldn’t help my writing. :)
So next project to finish up? Call of the Cougar. If I can figure out the ending, I’ll have it made! :)
But in the meantime, I did cut out another 5 bears and they’re now in process. :) I still have more to cut out for orders. Waiting on fabric for two of them.
Okay, off to write. Oh, AND, TOMORROW is release day for TALL, DARK and Paranormal!

I read Regency. I love it! But I don’t write it. Which is why I read it. I also love Highland stories, but only because I never see them written in the time period I write in. I don’t read werewolf books. After I wrote my first cougar book, I read a short novella that was supposed to be a cougar shifter book, but guess what? No one shifted. How can you call a book a shifter book if no one shifts???

One of the things we do as an author is make a pack with the reader. If I say it’s a wolf shifter book, I’d better show you some shifting. Into wolves! If I say it’s a medieval Highland book, I’d better show you some Highlanders in medieval times. And if I say it’s a vampire book…well, you know the drill–sharp teeth, hot and sexy (yes, my vampires are hot and sexy, not cold and dead) ….

Hope you all have a lovely Monday. I opened my blinds to get my morning blue light–remember: blue light is good for you, for your psyche, and it’s pitch black out. Somehow I will have to survive another hour or so with no blue light, orange light, or any other kind of light! Oh, yeah, I can turn on the overhead light, but what’s the fun in that?

Another Steampunk Bear Creation!

Many know I write wolf and jaguar shifters, but I wasn’t sure how well cougars would be received. Like with the exotic big cats, jaguars, and the wolves, with cougars, I do a ton of research to make the big cat shifters as realistic as possible based on their other animal half. I've been asked if I would write bear shifters. Anyone game? It would be much later, as I have so many have-to books to write.

Cougar’s Mate has been well loved and so Call of the Cougar will be out by December. Earlier, if I can manage. I’m trying to finish up A Silver Wolf Christmas revisions today, then tomorrow start working on the end of Call of the Cougar. It’s nearly done! Just needs another 15,000 words and an ending. That helps, you know.


And, I have one of the new Steampunk Bears completed–this one with a suede vest. All the ones I’m making now are sold. :But this shows the faux leather hat I created for this bear also, and I’m making more of the same hat for the rest.

Tinsel Bear

I made this for a requested bear order for a small bear, now have one for a large bear, but was excited to learn a new “sewing” technique. Creating an eyelet-decorated vest for the Steampunk Bears. I have 7 orders for them, so have been working on the bears and the vests.  So I got the eyelets, and the eyelet clamp to add them and read the directions and was clueless. Tried a number of things, and finally gave up and looked it up on Youtube for a video demonstration. Within seconds, I had my first eyelet-decorated vest.


I do Google searches all the time to figure out how to do something that’s escaping me, so why not for something like that? And it worked! Love the Internet.

Anyway, there’s her eyelet-decorated vest. She still needs her hat and this bear is sold.  Working on 7 more. They’re all a little different from one another and when I have them finished, I’ll show them off.

In the meantime, I’m working hard to read through the rest of A Silver Wolf Christmas. I’m having trouble with saving. I save and go back and find that my edited work HASN’T saved. And I’m having to revise sections I know I changed. So not sure what’s up with that.

And I have another bear to make that is a really unusual fur. A customer behind me at the fabric store asked me what I was going to do with that??? And I said, “Make a bear.” I think it will be cute, but I never know for sure until I actually create the bear. So far, I have only had a couple of “ugly” bears by taking a risk. The fur was curly and the fabric too stretchy. So it wouldn’t hold it’s shape when stuffing. I say they were ugly, but they actually turned out cute, but I gave them away as freebies.


It turned COLD. 57 here today. And that’s COLD. But I’m loving it. Though this is not a shorts day. And it’s ONLY getting up to 78. Can you believe it? And we had rain last night! Love it!

It’s going to get back up to the 90’s, so glad to get some refreshing cool weather.

SOLD!!! 3 Wolf Books and a Jaguar Book!!!

I didn't make my word count last night. Didn't make any bears. What was I doing all day??? Do you ever have days like that? You were really busy, but you have NOTHING to show for it?

Okay, well I did work on about 15 student lessons, 3 of the 17 students finished. And I did get half my word count. And I talked to my daughter about her work and what I was doing. And that was a 2 hour conversation. We hadn't had time to talk in a while. So here's part of the conversation:

"I quit writing to work on bears."

"No, you couldn't quit writing."

"No, I got my word count in for the day so I could work on bears. I'm not quitting writing. I love writing. And I love making bears."

Anyway, so I had to run into town to ship bears yesterday. And I don't know. The day just...vanished.

About the new books sold:

I pitched 3 and somehow ended up selling 4!

It's kind of like wolf and jaguar cubs. They come in multiples. I had a reviewer snark about how I had so many twins and triplets in books. What was the deal with that?

I write my stories as realistically based on the real animals as I can. Sometimes I only show one wolf, no siblings. But usually, I have multiples. Not because I'm thinking that I'll have tons more books to write, because especially early on, I really wasn't thinking of how I would be writing these series so long. Why not, you ask?

Sales. We never know when sales will allow us to keep writing. Or if a series just doesn't take off. I really work hard at making my stories as new as possible so that each story is really different from all the rest. I'm still finishing up A Silver Wolf Christmas, which is book 17 in the wolf series. I sold another Silver pack book--Eric Silver, the eldest of the quadruplet brothers, who butts head with Darien, his cousin and the pack leader. He's a park ranger, runs into trouble with another wolf pack, and meets the she-wolf running it. I had started this story a long time ago, but lost it in a computer crash, so I'll be headed in that direction again.

I don't know the order the books will come out, but I sold another SEAL book because they do really well, and this one is A SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble. It's Allan's story and he's on the police diving team when a human female he's interested in discovers a nearly dead wolf and wants to put it out of its misery, but the wolf is one of Allan's pack.

Then, I had to write another jaguar story, and this one is like the end of the season premier. I can't talk about what's going to happen in that one just yet. It has to do with a cub and that's all I can say. But you know me, before long, the cat will be out of the bag.
And that was what I pitched and sold!

Then my editor was telling me that she just totally loves the cub story and babies and billionaires sell well. Wait, I needed to write a billionaire wolf story!

So there you have it. The unpitched Billionaire Wolf story. Not sure on title or what it's going to be about, but I'm excited about writing it.

I had two billionaire stories I wrote--Exchanging Grooms, and Marriage, Las Vegas Style, more comedy romance, no paranormal. And I had fun with them.
