Fun Christmas Party and Love Fall Weather

We had a great Christmas FB party! One party crasher! That’s a new one to me. And two no shows. Everyone had fun, and we had no crickets chirping, which is always a concern when inviting folks to play–seeing anyone show up!

But it was great! Fun giveaways, fun Christmas pictures, and everyone had a great time!

I got edits for A SEAL Wolf Hunting ( formally A SEAL Wolf for Sale) and so need to work on those and get them turned back in. Still posting winners for the Christmas party also, and have a couple of fellows out replacing 3 more windows. Raining today, storms really bad last night and they knocked out my internet. But we sure needed the rain. More coming on Monday.

It seems like a perfect Halloween time with storms, lightning, thunder, dark, spooky skies, cold!
So I’m off to get a couple of more bears ready to ship, have no idea how I’m going to get them all the post office. Might have to make two trips inside. Why do they have triple the number of doors???

I am so glad to have finally been able to read Calla and Guthrie’s story. These two have been circling each other for a while now as secondary characters, and I very much enjoyed how their obvious fascination for one another played out. Although they’ve known each other for most of their lives, except for the time Calla’s family lived elsewhere, they really don’t know each other well at all. But, from the beginning of the book, Calla and Guthrie are revealed to be surprising and unpredictable, and it doesn’t take long for a grudging proximity to one another to turn into an undeniable and sweet attraction.

Although I’ve liked all of Ms. Spear’s leading clan wolves for various reasons, Guthrie may be my favorite of them yet. As the pack accountant, he’s more somber and analytical, as well as more skeptical and hesitant, than the other members of his family. Guthrie is lacking in the alpha-male blustering that his brothers have expressed so comically in previous stories, his drive to ensure the survival of himself and his pack dictating nearly all of his decisions. He’s just as strong and willing to fight as the others, but his approach is as much about purpose as passion.

Loved the colorful canoeists that matched the fall colors on the hillside. In Jaguar Hunt, I mentioned the characters wearing colorful life vests and their colorful kayaks while they were on the rapids in Belize, so this reminded me of it.

Cory, who was the wolf biologist at The International Wolf Center, said he tried to take his 3 big dogs canoeing, but they hadn’t learned to not move around –all to one side of the craft.

I was wearing 6 layers of clothes here. I stood out on the boat for the nearly 2 hour trip? It was cold, but I had to take pictures. Took some from inside, but too much reflection. It was very cold!

Life of a Cornfield

To really dead corn. I took this right before they cut it down yesterday. And I thought it looked perfect for Halloween.

To all gone corn.

And I caught a bunny and the sunrise this morning while taking the pictures of the cornfield harvest. Note my yard is littered with corn!

Dry cornfields can be a fire hazard. And yet, it was kind of nice having my "forest" of cornstalks surrounding the place. Nice and private from my neighbors and the traffic along the road. And though we don't have a lot of noise out here, what little we do have was also absorbed by the cornstalks. It also provided cover for the wildlife. So now...it's just earth again. Or it will be when they finish plowing the fields.

And that is the life of a cornstalk field. They don't plant it often, so it was fun having it for a change.
Off to write and make bears. Another order! Got my word count on Cougar, but long way to go before it's actually finished.
