Bear order completed last night and typed notes from the plane on Call of the Cougar. Have 2 more bear orders I want to finish today. But it’s time to PARTY!!!

I am so glad to have finally been able to read Calla and Guthrie’s story. These two have been circling each other for a while now as secondary characters, and I very much enjoyed how their obvious fascination for one another played out. Although they’ve known each other for most of their lives, except for the time Calla’s family lived elsewhere, they really don’t know each other well at all. But, from the beginning of the book, Calla and Guthrie are revealed to be surprising and unpredictable, and it doesn’t take long for a grudging proximity to one another to turn into an undeniable and sweet attraction.

Although I’ve liked all of Ms. Spear’s leading clan wolves for various reasons, Guthrie may be my favorite of them yet. As the pack accountant, he’s more somber and analytical, as well as more skeptical and hesitant, than the other members of his family. Guthrie is lacking in the alpha-male blustering that his brothers have expressed so comically in previous stories, his drive to ensure the survival of himself and his pack dictating nearly all of his decisions. He’s just as strong and willing to fight as the others, but his approach is as much about purpose as passion.

Cardinals Having a Feast!

4 cardinals, 3 males, 1 female

Do you see the cardinal in flight? When the one landed on the walk, the other took flight. He flew off so quickly, I didn’t think I’d caught him in the shot at all.

4 cardinals, 2 males, 2 females

In another shot, I didn’t realize I’d captured 2 females. I was concentrating on the two males, and saw the 2 females. So it was fun seeing the 5 cardinals at the feeding station nearly, only not all at the same time.

To capture these, I have to move a stool in front of the window and have my camera ready to get above the screen and hedge. When I do this, they often see me and fly off. So I was really fortunate that I was able to capture any of them at all!

I kept thinking I needed a bird blind, but then–I got lucky without one.
Still working away on Call of the Cougar. A 1,000 words away from my word goal, but a long way from the end. Still working on bear orders. Have about 30 in various states of progress. And about that number in orders to finish.

Do you have cardinals around? I didn’t realize I had so many until two males landed on the feeder at once and I knew another was much brighter red than them. I learned that the two in this picture that aren’t as bright red are the young males and they’ll keep changing until their feathers are all red.

And this was the first time I saw the two females at the same time. I thought maybe the one and the bright red male were Mom and Dad, because one pair of cardinals had two babies.

Momma on her nest. And both little babies heads were out when I came by the one time, but they ducked back into the nest so by the time I returned with the camera, I couldn’t see them. 

I’m back to working on Cougar, bears, and wishing you a Happy TGIF!!!

Morning Pictures–and the feel of the Paranormal

I “finished” writing A Silver Wolf Christmas, which means I’m still working on revisions, but it’s done! And so I worked on bears, still have about 20 to go but here is a picture of the 9 headless bears! They’re stuffed, and some of the arms and legs are closed. I’ll finish the rest tonight, and sew heads. :)

To go along with headless bears and the look of Halloween, the paranormal, etc., here is a picture of the full moon this morning!

And if that wasn’t enough, my chewed up pistachio, but it’s kind of hard to show that the grasshoppers are devouring it.

And a really cool picture of a spiderweb, perfect for that Halloween look.

And I started re-reading Call of the Cougar, so hopefully I can finish writing that in the next couple of weeks and edit it too.

I don’t have any more Best Friend purple sweaters. Just checked because I had another request for one. But I do have a new sweater I’ve ordered that’s black and pink and says: Girlfriends on it, and I’ll show it when it comes in.

This bear was one of a kind. I have a different style angel bear I’ll be making up in the future that has been featured in Teddy Bear Review Magazine.

All these bears are on their way to new homes today! And I’m shipping off book and t-shirt prizes for the last contest. The post office must love me.
So as soon as I ship them, I’m back to writing and trying to make my 40,000 word goal this weekend.
