Austin and Shop with Jaguar Carpeting

I have a million and one things to do today–not that I’m going to get them all done, but I’m going to work on it, so I wanted to share a couple of pictures of Austin and then I’m off here and working! I realized I just had an audiobook pop up for final approval for the Mage of Monrovia also! So no time to play with pictures. Although I did anyway. :)

At least yesterday, I posted all my last blog blitz tour stuff and I made all the changes to Jaguar Pride that I needed to. Now, I have to reread the whole book and make sure that it all sounds right!
The capital is way off in the distance in this picture.
And a cool antique/art store at The Oasis, where they had jaguar carpeting, so I had to take a picture. You see? Jaguar fits everywhere! :)

Fun with Fans & Their Pictures! Last Day of Blog Tour, 10 hours and Counting!

Terree and her friend, Nyola, dressed up in jaguar prints to honor the big cats for the release of Jaguar Hunt. And while they were in the forest, look what they found! A mother and her cub. Under the Cover Blog Reviewer tagged me in the CUTEST ever photo of her daughter and her on a camping trip last year… reading in a tent. She gave me permission to share this on my blog.

Now first, I want to say that jaguar shifters and werewolves are into camping, big time. They love the jungles/forests. So it just seems appropriate that she would be reading JAGUAR FEVER on the camping trip.

According to her mother, Rhonda, Elysia is already a huge fan of mine. She has always wanted to be a librarian, but wants to write also. When she learned I’ve done both, her mother said I’ve been Elysia’s hero ever since.
Isn’t that the greatest thing ever? To not be able to leap buildings with a single bound, or stop a ship from plowing into a port city single-handed, but to be able to share stories with girls and boys who someday could very well be sharing their own stories and “moving” readers with their adventurous tales for younger generations to read–to me that is the most wondrous thing of all.

A quote from her mom and Elysia: “She is halfway through [The Dark Fae] and said, “OMG Mom this is getting really good!! I can’t put it down!”

And that is the best compliment an author can ever receive.

What could be better than reading The Dark Fae, drinking hot chocolate at Groundhouse Coffee on a lazy summer Sunday afternoon, while mom’s reading a much different book and drinking coffee?

Already a fan of Ms. Spear’s wolves, I have to say that her jaguars are slowly edging them out for equal time in my heart. I love the steamy environment of the jungle, and definitely want to visit it for myself. Tammy and David were meant for each other, even if they’re partners and really shouldn’t hook up. I found myself laughing and smiling the whole time while reading this book.

The mystery and action in this story kept propelling the story forward and the relationship between Tammy and David was so easy that it builds naturally and easily. I will highly recommend this book, and it’s my new favorite in the Jaguar series.

I am a good fan of shifter stories and I will say that Terry Spear has written a well thought out story here, it kept me guessing till the end – who the bad guys where.  The hero is a sexy Jaguar shifter and the heroine, also a Jaguar shifter, is a woman who prefers to work alone so she tries to ditch him at the first chance. These characters are very likeable and end up working well together. I give this book 5 stars as it flowed through out the whole story.

Okay, that’s it!!! While I was off the computer due to wild storms, I had water in the house from all the torrential rains. Bronze Sculpture of a Woman Diving off a Building, The Oasis, Austin

This was a beautiful exhibit at The Oasis–a sculpture in motion. Loved it.

And here is one that shows the vista. It was a LONG ways down.

 

At the Ulauf Sculpture Garden and Museum, the artist had a bronze statue of a little boy getting ready to dive into a pond.  So I thought it was fun to show the diving sculptures in the same blog.

I’m getting ready to send A SEAL Wolf for Sale to the last beta readers and then back to working on Her Highland Hero!

I thought I had a great idea for the anthology novella I was supposed to be working on also, but then I realized the heroine in that would die by book 7, so, hmmm, back to the drawing board. LOL

The Facebook party was a success in terms of gaining new followers, gave away 14 ebooks, instead of 3, and had fun. Blog Tour for Jaguar Hunt Continues and Sculpture Garden in Austin!

Yesterday for my birthday, a friend took me to Austin to have lunch at the Oasis and then see a sculpture garden. When we returned, I had a Facebook launch party to help promote right afterwards. They’re supposed to be like 15 minutes, but I was on it for 4 hours, and had so much fun, I gave away 14 ebooks–for a variety of different books: Cougar’s Mate, Lady Caroline and the Egotistical Earl, The Highlander, Huntress for Hire and more!

Not just a romance, Jaguar Hunt has quite a few interesting secondary characters, especially the teen shifters, whose antics I really enjoyed. They, too, proved themselves perfectly able to handle themselves when trouble started, outmaneuvering the “grown ups” in the story repeatedly. Ms. Spear adeptly offers several convincing possibilities for our nemeses, thereby keeping the mystery of the betrayal at the heart of all the trouble intact for nearly the entire story. Once revealed, however, these bad guys were absolutely loathsome and irredeemable, and I found the ending to their part of the story especially satisfying.

As is true in the other Heart of the Jaguar stories, the romantic involvement of the two main characters is a given, but what makes these shifters so much fun is that the women easily hold most of the power in the dynamic. Sure, Tammy experiences a lot of inner conflict about her feelings for David from the beginning, and David is certainly pulling out all the stops to win her over, but he respects her, and is content to follow her lead, demonstrating a willingness to remove himself from any sexually precarious situations before he pushes Tammy’s boundaries. It’s a nice change from some others I’ve read, and still manages to keep the building romance sexy and fun.

While all of the novels in the Heart of the Jaguar series have followed a similar pattern thus far, they’re still extremely entertaining. Tammy is an enjoyably quick-witted and resourceful character, proving herself invaluable to the resolution of the case, as well as being key to the comedic elements of the story as well. David, already a favorite of mine from the previous story in the series, Jaguar Fever, is both a gentleman and a soldier, occasionally veering into “endearing goofball” territory, but always emerging from the ordeal even more likable than before. Having my ceilings repainted where I had water damage and they took the popcorn off the ceilings, and now I’m choking on the dust. I finally had to put on the mask I used for spray painting the wrought iron outside. It’s just not good for your lungs.

 

And I’m still working on revising A SEAL Wolf for Sale. Finally got to chapter 11, and have 18 chapters, so a ways to go. Hard to concentrate with the painters here every day. But they’re doing a great job and it will look so nice when they are done.

I’ve talked to my publicist about having a Facebook Party, never had one, but have gone to another that an author held and then shared an excerpt, bio, etc and a couple of giveaways on hers. Have another I’m doing for an author on Friday. So I wanted to do one. But my Facebook Fan page doesn’t have a lot of likes. That’s probably because I never go there. So I’m working on that. :)

Jaguar Hunt

I love that this book is set in Belize. It is one of my favorite vacation spots. Ironically enough, I read this book on my anniversary. We went to Belize on our honeymoon so the timing was appropriate. I could easily visualize their hotel and the jungle scenes. One of my favorite things about the country is that it is not overdeveloped, and the rainforest is plentiful; A great place for jaguar shifters. It is a beautiful nation and the perfect setting for this novel.

Jaguar Hunt is an action pact book with a praiseworthy plot. There were a lot of mystery and excitement, and everything was written in a believable manner. I enjoyed all the characters. David and Tammy are such fun characters that I hated that their story had to end! Hopefully, they’ll make guest appearances in future books in the Heart of the Jaguar series as I love their interplay with one another. However, teenagers Alex and Nate almost steal the show entirely with their hilarious antics. I can’t wait to see what kind of JAG agents they make!

Jaguar Hunt is the third book in the Heart of the Jaguar series. I just loved the plot of this one and had such a difficult time putting it down. While it is possible to read this book as a standalone and totally enjoy it, I would recommend that if you are a fan of contemporary paranormal romance that you should just read this wonderful series. They say it takes a thief to catch a thief, well in this case, it takes a couple of special agent jaguar shapeshifters to catch some naughty teen shifters who might have something to do with a missing jaguar. Agents David Patterson and Tammy Anderson track the pair to Belize but things aren’t quite as simple as they initially seemed.

Both leads have quite a colourful romantic past with past lovers that crop up in their investigation. I guess that since the shifter world is fairly small, it makes sense that there would be some overlap. The romance between Tammy and David worked well with the sexual tension leading to a solid partnership. There was an air of playfulness in many of their interactions as both jaguars and humans which reflected their feline natures nicely. In many romance novels there is one clear villain but here Spear went out of her way to create a pool of likely suspects and difficult to interview. I appreciated this attention to detail as it made the investigation more robust.

I enjoyed this novel and was able to get up to speed pretty quickly even though I hadn’t read the first two – something I’ll be quickly remedying. Cover Reveal for Jaguar Pride!

Isn't he scrumptious??? Both of them!!! I love the black jaguar in the picture also. There are no such things as black cougars, but sometimes someone will say they saw one. This is definitely a black jaguar. And Huntley Anderson. JAG agent, Golden Claws. And he is teamed up with another JAG agent. They're just after poachers, but then find themselves taking care of jaguar shifter cubs, which presents a real problem. :) And Melissa isn't about to be the one holding the cubs while Huntley continues with the mission.

Lots of fun. Okay, all the guest blogs are done, the marketing stuff for A Silver Wolf Christmas is done, and today I have to spend the day working on Jaguar Pride edits. :)  And the next few days. Savage Hunger is book one in the Heart of the Jaguar series by Terry Spear. What I love most about Terry Spear’s books is that they grab you right away and keep you invested until the very last page. And that is exactly how I feel about this book.

Imagine being a Jaguar shifter but not being able to find any others like you. Of there being no hope in sight of finding a mate, someone to share life with, have children with. This is the life Conner Anderson and his sister, Maya have been given. Abandoned by their parents long ago, they are all each other has. They stay under the radar, owning a large gardening business in Texas. But twice a year, they vacation to the Amazon to let their jaguars run free. These three have quite an adventure, both dangerous and comical at times. I love that Terry Spear’s books have everything, humor, sweet romance, and plenty of gripping suspense. I plan to go directly into the next book to see what comes next.

Okay, I’m back…. again. I can’t help it if I get such great news and I have to share! :)

This is really, really the last time today. Unless something else comes up. Note I’m not working on A SEAL Wolf for Sale.

I’m sick! Not sure if I picked up a bug on the plane or it was from the guys replacing my windows and all the dust and outside allergens. But I barely got any sleep last night and so that means NO WRITING on mss until I’m more with it.

Although, who knows? Maybe I would be really brilliant then?
