I Need a Job Where I Work 2 Days and I'm off 5!!!

Wouldn't that be nice???

It's not like I'd be goofing off for 5 days. Really. I'd probably be working harder than I am now. But I'd be doing it in PJs for more of the time!!!

So today I'm off and it's rainy and misty and cold and wonderful! I have the final edits to Savage Hunger I've got to work on today, when I planned to work on Jaguar 2, but I did manage to add another 2000 words to it. I'm thinking of starting it all over again. :)

Sometimes I do that. I did it with The Highlander. I started from scratch and now am at 12,000 words. Sometimes a story is perfect the way it comes together, sometimes I have to revise it when I'm doing research and think, wait, I'd like to go in a different direction. But even so, I can often use what I've written earlier, but just at a different part of the story.

My problem is just that I didn't have any inspiration. So HE inspires me. The look, the physique, the look....yeah, I'm off to write.

I had only a couple the first time around, but I just got a few more in, so reviewers, I have a few to send...US only, if you'd like an early copy of the book to review!

And today I'm at Synchronized Reading with an interview! Thanks to Janina!

Yesterday I wrote 4,000 words on Jaguar 2. That's a record for me on a work day, and no, I didn't do it while I was at work. I couldn't even if I wanted to. :)

So I'm hoping I can get up to 10,000 on my 2 days off. Still have a number of guest blogs to do. You see, the problem is that I'm working at them, and getting them down to a more reasonable number, and then I'm signing up to do more! So that's the problem. I think I have 10 left, do 5, and have 10 left again. I know you're saying, so quit raising your hand! But, I'm having such a time doing that. I think, oooh, this looks like a neat place to write something...like commenting on USA Today's Happy Ever After. Or I'll be talking about teen movies that talk about love...I have to look them up because I can't think of the titles, but one is about a boy and girl who are just starting a relationship, and the evil vampiress next door wants him for her own. :) He's so enthralled with the vampiress because of her seductive vampire ways, and the girl is ready to knock some sense into him, she's so angry. Perfect teen romance. :)

And I'm teaching two online courses right now. I LOVE teaching. It's a way for me to give back some of what I've learned. If it helps other authors to make it, and some of my former students have gotten NY book contracts, I'm ecstatic! Maybe I had a very small part in their success!

But hey, they look like they'd be a lot of fun, don't they? Jaguars, right? Got to be jaguars! They love the water!

Could be wolves, they love the water too....but they look more like jaguars to me!

Werewolves, in most books, are usually like that but throw in a team of SEAL's and you have people literally willing to face a bullet for one another. That kind of loyalty always makes for some dramatic, heartfelt scenes, but in this crew that sort of connection also provides a strong base for a lot of the humorous moments.
An Exciting Storyline - The book begins with Finn bugging Meara's place because an unknown assassin is after her brother's SEAL team. He seeks to protect her while Hunter is away, doing whatever it takes, even going so far as to pretend to be her lover. Hilarity ensues, which is expected when you put such larger than life characters together and high-action drama follows the two as they avoid killers and their own emotions.
Love, Lust and Everything in Between - Meara and Finn are beautiful together; their chemistry is sizzling and their reactions to one another are instant and explosive. The automatic physical attraction between the two is intense right from the beginning and their animosity only a sign of their hidden feelings. The characters really play upon each others personality, bringing out the softer side of their hard-edged persona. The author writes sensual scenes for the characters to explore their emotions in, without taking them too far too soon, making that climactic moment all the more anticipated.

Overall, I liked the book and I love the series. Terry Spear has created a world that readers can follow along with as each new book is written. Favorite characters have cameos and new characters are introduced, which gives readers a long-lasting pleasure from the series that doesn't simply end when the last page of a book is turned.

I'm Off to Battle!

Well, maybe not. But these guys look kind of ready, don't they?

Newsletter's off, workshop only requires a wrap-up lesson before it starts tomorrow, finished another guest blog, I still need to write 10 more blogs, need to write something for the workshop I'm presenting to a Christian Women's group, and need to ship off the author video I finally made after 4 attempts to do it right. One I did in my living room. It was nice and dark in there, but it turned out really grainy. So I had to do it in the foyer where it's really sunny. My laptop is destroyed....

So much for trying to fix the electric cord connection...$55, down the drain. So I have to buy another.

I'm ready to do battle...went to Best Buy Friday after work, and all the sale computers were sold out. So why did they still have then on display? I asked about 5 of them, so it wasn't like it was just one of them! They said they have a new sale today. We shall see if they have any computers available or not. I may have to order one on line. And then the stupid store wonders why we don't purchase locally!

And it's cold here! :) Winds really blowing strong, and I don't want to go out. :) I need my wolf's coat to venture forth into the cruel cold world. Hey, it's been in the 70's every day! It's hard to adjust to 76, then 40...all in a day...

I HATE Losing Stuff

Okay, nope, not just stuff, but computer stuff.

*sigh*

With every change, I lose something. Well, I've lost lots of some things. Every time I go to do something, I realize just how much I've lost. The book covers for some of my new books. The video book trailers I recently made. Well, all of them, really. The music (free for use) I had downloaded for the videos. All the fonts I had downloaded to use on book titles, and whatnot. The paintbrushes I had downloaded to use on creating new book covers. It's all really time consuming and I have a slow Satellite, so downloading and transferring all this into the right places takes forever.

Why did I lose all this stuff? Because every time I have to change out a hard drive, something isn't saved on some other device and I've lost it.

The more I try to do stuff, the more I realize how much I've lost and how much I have to do to recreate everything all over again.

And I don't have the time. So it makes me sick!

So my word for the day is BACKUP everything you can think of, and that you can't think of, because you'll regret it if you don't!!!

To Be Little and Without a Care in the World...

This is not me! I just learned I have a workshop to give all week next week. And I tried to say no to another group about talking about the publishing business because it's on hump day, middle of the week and I have to work the rest of the week...but the lady wouldn't take no for an answer. Period.

*Sigh* And I still need to do the video this weekend and prepare a workshop for next week.

And...well, I look at this adorable little girl, envision that's me in a fancy buggy surrounded by roses and a fantasy sky in the background, dressed to the Nines, and I'm just peachy. No worries, no stress. Mom's smiling at me from close by, encouraging me to smile, and I'm so totally clueless.

Yep. What a life!

My Review:
If you like shapeshifting, sexy alpha men, and witty, strong willed beautiful alpha females, then this book by Terry Spears is definitely for you! I LOVED this novel and I can’t believe it’s the FIRST Terry Spear novel I’ve ever read!!! I loved her plot line, I loved the complexity she incorporated into her hero and heroine, and I loved all the amazing secondary characters that lent the perfect amount of depth. She fills this story with so much more than a simply reading….it’s action filled, suspenseful, and passionate.

Finn Emerson. Oh.My.Gosh. If he truly is who he is on the cover, I totally MUST MUST MUST have one! From the way he was in the story, all protective, yet a loner, of Meara, I so wish he was real! The way he jumped into helping his SEAL teammate’s twin sister when her life might be in danger was absolutely amazing. He’s a take charge, alpha male and one that I totally fell in love with! When he would shift, wowza! Ms. Spear totally made it sound incredible! As he continues to protect Meara, though, something happens to him….something he tries to fight.

Meara Greymore. A beautiful young woman, leader of her pack when her twin, Hunter, is away on his honeymoon. But, there’s a problem….someone is out to assassinate her. Who is it? And what lengths will Hunter’s team go to protect her? All she wants is to find a suitable alpha male werewolf to take for a life mate, but she absolutely will NOT consider a SEAL as that life mate….until Finn kisses her.

My one downfall to this amazingly captivating 5 Book worthy paranormal romance? I haven’t read any of the others!!! But, take heart! Ms. Spear keeps her reader update to date enough that the reader just coming in has no problems with being confused. The setting of the story was stunning…the Oregon coastline and woods-y outdoors. I could just feel myself swept away to the beautiful scenery. And the passion between Finn and Meara? While the entire book was NOT about the bedroom, when it was…oh la la!!! I LOVED it! You could feel the sparks flying, that’s for sure!

This book has something for every book lover. Romance, paranormal, suspense, military, friendship…all of it put together made this one of my favorite paranormal romances ever! I can’t wait to read another Terry Spear novel! She’s on my must have favorite authors reading list! PRE-ORDER YOUR COPY NOW!!!!~~ Molly

Happy Hump Day!

Woohoo, I got a great review from Synchronized Reading! What a way to go on hump day!

My Thoughts:
Meara Greyson is determined to find a mate. So while her brother is away, it's her only time to find one without anyone getting in the way, except for Navy SEAL and alpha wolf Finn Emerson. With all the danger brewing, which seems to be targeting Meara, Finn is determined to protect her but isn't prepared for the danger brewing while also dealing with the heat between the two of them.

I received this book via Netgalley.com, and am so happy that I did. I requested this book not knowing it was part of series. (Unobservant me. I saw a wolf and and Navy and clicked request!) So with that being said and this being the 9th book, I haven't read the previous 8. But when I started reading the book, I realized I could get the drift of what happened in the previous book. This was its own book and I wasn't confused at all with the storyline/plot of the story and after reading this book, I definitely need to read the other 8, since this one was so good!

On to the review...

I really loved all the characters in this book. Meara, Finn, Hunter, Rourke, and everyone in the SEAL team. Finn and Meara are by far my favorite. I love the relationship they started out with, and I love the relationship they ended with. They started off a little rocky. Meara with her feisty attitude and Finn with his dominant take on issues that dealt with her. But from the very beginning you could tell they had a chemistry with each other that they where both skeptical to pursue, which I loved by the way. At the end... So happy!

Hunter was your typical big brother and he prayed the role exceptionally. I really like Hunter. Rourke was kind of dorky to me, but that is what made me love him. The SEAL team, especially Anna, all made me laugh. Even though Anna wasn't an "official" member of the team, she was my fave within them. Bjornoff (definite spell check there. Don't have my kindle beside me..) was something else. He made me laugh, especially when he got socked in the face! His response was too funny!

This book was filled with action, which by now you guys know is a major point I love in a book. This book was definitely a page turner. Filled with romance and filled with action. I am undeniably a werewolf kind of girl. But the ending of this book shock me. I did not expect so and so (Lol) to be apart of it! I was like what? Nooo? Not you, why you... Great ending!

Overall this book was very enjoyable. It was a pleasure to read and I did not want to put it down. If you are a paranormal romance and a werewolf fan, you should really read this book!

Goddess in Training...

I wish I was back here at the restaurant in Disney World where I took the picture. Yummy Italian food. Mama Mia! That's a meatball. And lovely decor, statues, paintings. Air conditioning! And sit down seating. Really nice when you've run all over the Disney sets and all from the time the place opened for those staying at the Disney hotels, I think 9 am, until midnight and the last ferry left the place. Every day. Every night.

I was happily exhausted after my Romance Writer's Conference stay, but mostly because my daughter and I DID Disney!

The story, Goddess in Training, is about a librarian, and I wrote this WAY before I started working at one, so no, I didn't base it on any librarian. And the library is actually based on the one we used to frequent when my kids were little in Poteau, Oklahoma. But I always had a fascination with Greek and Roman mythology, so, I just thought, what if a mousy little librarian, who also loved Greek and Romany mythology, ended up in the sights of a demi-god, who isn't mousy in the least?

And so that's the novella.

Oh, and speaking of libraries, our self service checkout and all public computers were down, and everything else that could go wrong... did yesterday. Monday. The computers are still not up. But we had people turning them on, as if to say we didn't know what we're doing and they're going to use them anyone. One teen said, "Well can't I print off something?"

Hmm, I should have said, "Sure, print all you like." I just reminded him the computers were down. Not working. Down.

One time we put sheets of paper on every single computer (32 total), saying the computers were down. We still had a couple flip the sheet over the monitor and turn on the computer. Then when it wouldn't work, they asked why? One of my coworkers flipped the paper back over the monitor and pointed to it. "Out of Order"

*sigh*

Have a terrific Tuesday! I'd like to be able to say TGIF, but it's not. So I guess I'll have to wait!!!

Nightmares from a Book???

The good news, if you're a writer and wrote the book, is that if it gave the readers' nightmares, it shows how well you wrote the book. It seemed so real and memorable, the reader incorporated it into his or her dream.

The bad part about writing a book, if you are the author and it gave your readers nightmares, they may not want to read any more of the book, or read anything further from the author. LOL

Is this the light at the end of the tunnel (castle in Scotland), or is it the way into your worst nightmare?

Well, if you're one of the clansmen who live here and you haven't done anything to earn the laird's wrath, it's a home, shelter, a way of life. But if you're the enemy clan or in trouble with your clan...
it's going to be your worst nightmare!

Okay, I'm off to finish up the newsletter and get it sent out and then I'm working on the interview of Finn Emerson, SEAL and gray wolf, yum, for Molly's Reviews.

Before Internet

Before Internet, there were men like these. Yum. :)

Well, after too, but just saying...

I do love the Internet. I need to fix my laptop, so I went to Best Buy. They can't do it because they didn't have Lenovo when I purchased mine. Fine. I go to the Internet, look at service locations. Call one. They don't have computers anymore. Call another. They can look at it but can't guarantee anything.

I drive out there and found out they're not there. They've moved. A couple of years ago. Phone number's still the same. Both companies were still listed as servicing Lenovo. So what is the problem?

What goes up on the Internet, stays up on the Internet, forever, and ever, and ever.

So some is good stuff, important stuff, great for being a real help. Some is plain old outdated garbage. Long story short? Call the company and find out: Do they do what they say they do? And are they still located where they say the are located?

To make a long story short, before the Internet, I would have had to call the company on the paperwork I have for the product. Now, I can use the Internet. If it's not too outdated, that is!

And no, I did not make it in time to go to the right place! It was an hour in the opposite direction and would have been closed by the time I arrived there. I have to say it was an interesting drive. Saw tons of horse farms, cattle ranches, and even a llama lying in the dirt looking sleepy. Now, it'll be probably two weeks before I can get the laptop to the right place.

And no laptop for all that time. It's amazing how we rely on our gadgets to keep us going!

Truly, this is the way the saying should go! Why? Because isn't it when you aren't looking for something? Tearing a place apart? Cleaning up everything? Giving up?

That that which is lost is found???

Well, it is. My watch, that is! I found it. Wasn't looking for it. Had searched and searched and searched. And I gave up. At least until I had a day off to search some more. And voila. There it was. In plain sight. In a place I have never, ever, ever put it.

So if you seek and you cannot find, quit seeking and it shall find you!

My valuable lesson to impart to the rest of the world today!!!

I'm off to a shorter work day today which truly makes it a TGIF because I worked 12 hours on Monday, but still have to work all day tomorrow. Really awful week. And we begin taxes today....not us. The AARP. They are delightful tax preparers, but sometimes the people coming to get their taxes done are unbelievable. I had one woman screaming at me the other day about the tax forms. I was on the phone with another library while a patron was there trying to find out about her returned library card. We had a line of patrons waiting for us to wait on. But some woman who wanted her taxes done is screaming at me about the tax forms like I'm not on the phone and that we don't have a line of patrons to wait on. For one, we are a library. Not a tax service. AARP provides the service. And they're ONLY using our meeting room. If you have a question about ANYTHING, you do not have priority to scream at us ahead of our patrons. Get in line!

We get tons and tons of calls during this time about tax questions. Why is it that we are paying all this money to the IRS when they don't do their job? Why do we have to give out their tax forms and answer their tax questions? We are a library. We are not tax trained. Multi taxed, yes.

I had one last week where the woman was absolutely irate because I wouldn't answer her tax question or give her the number of the people to talk to who would. I repeat, we are a library, not a tax service. I could give all kinds of tax advice. Really I could. :) Just make it up as I go along. Or I can tell the truth--you have to come in and talk to the tax people. Period. No phone calls are taken. You have to wait your turn.

Free service people. Chill.

:) *sigh*

Speaking of chilling, it's COLD here! And I have a hundred thousand blogs I need to do for March for A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing, and two classes to get ready to present in New Orleans, and my editor just asked if I would prepare a video of myself talking about two of my upcoming releases. Ack! I have never done such a thing. But I will try.

Okay, off to work. Y'all have a really lovely Friday! Mine's going to be short at work, so I can come home and work! :) I knew I'd been goofing off too much lately! But at least now I can tell the time and how fast it's slipping away! Speaking of time...

Lost and....Found...Kind of!

Sometimes I have days of not being able to find something. Not really very often, but when it's two important things in one day...

First, I look in all the usual places. Then I get more creative. Then I think of places they can't be. One was a book I'm reading for a contest. I thought I'd taken it to work to read on break. At least I had already done that with one of the books. Began reading another book the other day, and realized I'd already read it. So two down. Off to the 3rd.

I intended to take it to work with me, but couldn't find it. Maybe it slipped out of my bag and was at work in my desk drawer. No. Maybe it slipped out of my bag and was on the car floor. No. Couldn't do any more looking until I returned home.

Watch is missing also. I knew I had put it on before I went to bed. I thought maybe the clasp had come undone, but I've looked in the usual places for it, and then all around the bed. It's nowhere. I can't stand not having a watch. We have clocks in the library, but none of them are working. :)

Okay, so, I get home last night, search some more for my watch. Can't find it. Search for the book, and spy one sitting on the coffee table. But it's the one I just finished reading, isn't it?

Both have shirtless Highland hunks on the cover, blue kilts, and a blue background. They're not all that similar otherwise, but glancing at them, they look nearly the same. I had put the one I hadn't read away, thinking it was the one I had read.

Mystery solved, lost book found. Now...where is my watch?

The Dragon Fae...at least the Cover

We had violent storms that knocked out my internet, then my electricity yesterday, but everything's working again!!!

I've been busily working on The Highlander, Dougald's story, book 3 in the Winning the Highlander's Heart series. Donna promised me she's keeping Tom Silver, who is stuck in a blizzard in Colorado, nice and occupied until I get back to him. I'm not asking how she's keeping him entertained. Some secrets just shouldn't be revealed.

And I had a bit of fun with making the cover for the 5th book in the World of Fae series, Dragon Fae.

Doesn't she look like she could be one???

Off to work. It's going to be a really long week!

Okay, had to share this. I do NOT work at this library!!! One of our patrons said that he used to go to people's homes and retrieve library books that were way past overdue, but I think he's on medication for something...and I'm not sure what he says is real or just his imagination.

Today I'm at History Undressed, Eliza Knight's fun place where history is ....undressed.

Thanks so much to Cat for sending me this cowboy in a tub! I can't find the original one I have, but yum, this one will do!

I think she said he's Australian, and I'm definitely ready to move!

But back to taking a trip, this time it will be not so much the place, but the time. So before you pack, you might want to check out the requirements for the journey, and if you're ready to go, we're off to a time travel adventure to the old west--Salado, Texas that is, and we're on a man hunt!

Woohoo! It's Monday!

Usually Monday's are dreadful days, but I'm off! And so I want to be with...himmm....

Yum. Okay, see, the clothes do help to make the man, eh?

And the sword doesn't hurt. Nor the eyes...

Many of the books are off! I have to send one to Australia and another to someplace else across the Seven Seas, and another I have to check on the shipping cost. But all the others are at the post office, waiting for Tuesday morning.

Gas in the tank, cupboard's no longer bare (which happens when I'm frantically on deadline), and I'm back ready to CREATE STORIES! I love writing!

Playing Catch-up!

I want to write!!!!

But today I'm playing catch up! If anyone is owed a book from me, I'm getting them ready to ship. I probably will take them to the post office tomorrow for some that I can send self-service. The others I'll have to send the following week when I have a chance.

I had problems with Killing the Bloodust going to various publisher sites, Apple, Sony, etc, because I was told that I had blue ink on the document, which I don't have. But it wouldn't go through the approval thing because of the blue ink. So I finally nuked it. :) Poor vampires. And reuploaded and hopefully in a few weeks, it will be available at the other locations. I've been trying this for months, by the way, so it's been a test of perseverance!

Thanks to Caryn for a lovely jaguar disk she sent to me! And the adorable jaguar with her cubs and jaguar print blanket, which I use all the time! from Donna!

Although right now I'm playing around with vampires in Dangerous Liaisons, sequel to Deadly Liaisons, and Tom in Silence of the Wolves, The Dragon Fae, book 5 in the World of Fae, and A Highlander to Love...

I can't help myself! Right now I'm reading Nightshade, Cry Wolf, and Highland Champion. So I'm eclectic, what can I say?

I'm also trying to sort out all my blog tours coming up, that I didn't put in a folder. argh. And now have to try and recreate some sort of a schedule.

And I forgot about a blog I had to do, so I just finished it for Wednesday--for Eliza's History Undressed, and what you would need to take and not take if you're going with me on a trip to the past! :)

The ladies from Literal Addiction sent me a couple of books to autograph, and with it a cool bag with a skull and crossbones and my name on the skull! For the paranormal book club. I've got to say I love it! Thanks so much, Chelle and Carla!

I love swashbuckling pirates...you know, the ones that called themselves privateers...so depending on what side they fought and stole for, they could be the good guys!

Do Clothes Make the Man?

I'm thinking, he's beautiful, face, scrubble, uhm, the rest of him...but ditch the hoody sad-sack wrap. Really. It's a distraction. Not that the rest of him doesn't help to make up for it...yum. But just like a raggy outfit on a bombshell of a woman can detract from her appearance, so can a raggy outfit look similarly on a hunk of a wolf.

I'm sure he's a wolf.

Maybe it's the two-tone color. I dunno. Maybe all black would have looked divine.

What do you all think? Can someone who is beautiful still get away with dressing in sloppy clothes? Or does it detract from the sexiness?

I say we strip him down and start all over again. What do you say?

Busy with Jaguar Edits, but...

I'm busy with finishing up Savage Hunger, when I got this neat email from Jessica! Thanks so much, Jessica! I loved the jaguar cat who's annoyed because I'm not paying attention to her and too busy writing. :)

The bug guys are spraying for bugs, even though it's too cold for the bugs to be a bother. But you know how it is. You have a contract and you have to honor it whether you need it or not.

Notice her ears are back, her claws are exposed, her whiskers straight out, and ah, yes, a few teeth are in evidence. The eyes almost seem human, don't they?

Well, she's definitely not happy. So I guess I'll get off here and pay some attention to her...

Books to Go Out, But....

I have books to ship, but no time yet to do it. It's FREEZING out, and in. The winds are really high, gusting to 40, and it's sending it into the house through every nook and cranny. I still need to retrieve my garbage cans, but I'm afraid they're probably in Kansas by now.

Maybe they've even made it all the way to the snow in Minnesota! My son said they had an inch of snow in Omaha even. Here...it's just COLD. Twenty-two degrees here. Brrr. I told you it was FREEZING.

I'm back to edits...so be good while I'm writing about hot steamy jungles and even hotter jaguars, while I'm bundled up and FREEZING. LOL

I'm blogging at Casablanca today about the New Year for wolves and big cats. Truly, I only meant the title as in the old movie: The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming!

Yikes, It's Tuesday Already....

I'm still deep in edits, folks. Argh. Got to go to work in a little while. Taking off another day of work to try to get these done. It's not that I'm rewriting my manuscript, but then again...

You see, one little change can change a whole book. Add a kiss earlier, and a love scene earlier in the book, and the one that was supposed to be first changes too. And their reactions to each other between the two changes. And...well, you get the point. One little change can change a whole book.

*sigh*

I'm having fun with it, but it's the going to the day job that's making it difficult. So I'm off to work this morning, but hump day I'll be humping away at editing all day, and Friday, the same thing. And Sunday, the same thing. And Monday, well, it's done. Finished. No more changes. As it's due then.

Will it be finished? Yes. I'll still have final line edits, but the book will be done.

Then I'm back to Tom's story.What do you think? Ready to tangle with the youngest Silver brother???

I'll try to get a newsletter out this weekend! I'm hoping I'll be done with edits by Friday. We'll see what the future will bring. Not making any promises.

But I'll try!

Squirmy Pups are NOT Conducive to Writing! by Terry Spear

Before I get to squirmy pups, I wanted to show off a guy who definitely is easy on the eyes. Now, who says guys have to be half naked to look sexy as the devil?

Mishka is a half poodle, half not sure how to spell it. Don't have time to look it up. And she has to go out again. argh.

But every time I visit with my son and his wife, Mishka is my lapdog. My son and DIL say I spoil her. But small dogs are great lapdogs. When they're sleepy and not squirming. And when it's cold, perfect for keeping a body, or at least a lap, warm.

Now, I have a scene where Darien is in his wolf coat and he has his head in Lelandi's lap in DESTINY OF THE WOLF. Do you remember it?

And in the new book, SAVAGE HUNGER, Connor, in his jaguar form, has his head in Kathleen's lap, but for an entirely different reason.

There's something sweet about having a pet cuddle with you. But it's not entirely sweet when a shifter does it. More...sexy. :) Because under all that fur is really a man.

Got to run. Have to go to a meeting this morning which means I have to leave even earlier for work. The good news is that this happy hump day is actually my TGIF!!! I'm off the rest of the week, helping my daughter with her wedding stuff. And I've got to finish edits on Savage Hunger! But we're REALLY short on workers today, AGAIN, so it will be just as crazy today, I imagine!

I also get relieved of my pet setting job as my son and DIL will be arriving tonight. My daughter and SIL will be arriving on Thurs night, and so it will be like Christmas all over again! :)

New Year and I'm Worn Out!

Okay, it's the brand new year and what do I get to show for it? I went to bed at 8 PM. Meant to do edits for Savage Hunger, deadline looming, but was too tired. Does that mean the New Year came in with a whimper?

*sigh* I really don't have time to sleep my life away! :)

I saw Dreaming of the Wolf on the Indie Book List this morning and thought that was cool.

I'm still at Casablanca with a free giveaway until Jan 4. Several of the Casablanca ladies are offering books for the New Year's Bash, so be sure and comment.

This is a jaguar shifter who can't remember why he was in the water with his pants on. :)

Got to take the grandbaby (a puppy) out in the bitter cold. I need my wolf pack to take her out so they can watch her. She has to go on a leash or she tears off into the cornfields. My son had to chase her down the first time he tried to take her out without a leash. And she squirms and bites at the leash, so trying to get it hooked on is a trial in patience. Since I'm in a hurry to get things done and to work on time, I don't have a whole lot of patience in the morning before work! :(

Before I left work last night, I had an unbelievable case...it went something like this--"I can't do it! It's against the law! You have to do it."

"I will. Right here."

"No! No! Behind the desk! You can't do it out here. It's against the law."

If it's against the law, then I can't do it!

Okay, so I look up the book he wants and it's something religious. Raising brows. How is this against the law? Or something so terrible he will be struck down and carried away, ho-ho, he-he, ha-ha! Hmmm.... a cultists? Or something more bizarre?

Who says working at the library is an easy job?

Dreaming of the Wolf is Spear’s 8^th book in the Heart of the Wolf series, however, new readers can easily follow all the action, romance and lore without having read previous books in the series. Hi, Cynthia! Thanks so much for being here with us today! Anyone with a wolf name, any variation of the spelling, is definitely welcome!!! Even though she writes scifi and historical western romance, I think that's just a cover for her wolf shifter persona. :) She has to live it down of course because of her name. :) Too obvious otherwise!

Without further adieu, welcome, Cynthia, to the fray!

1. How did you get started writing? I wrote my first story when I was about ten. It was a romance about me and a little boy I liked. I also wrote some very depressing poetry. I decided that poetry was not for me and stuck to romance.

2. What genre(s) do you write in and why? I have a historical western romance and a sci-fi romance out now. The sci-fi is the first in a series. I write in these genre’s because they are the ones whose stories reached out to me. The western was the first book I wrote and was inspired by my parents love story. It’s set on the same ranch that they met on in 1941. My book is set in 1885, so it’s not their love story. My dad was a cowboy and trapper but to the best of my knowledge was never a bounty hunter.

The sci-fi series was done because of dreams I had when I was a teenager. I knew I was a princess from Alpha Centauri. There was no way I could belong to the crazy family I had. Of course, I adore that crazy family now.

3. What movie best describes your life? Why? I think Romancing the Stone best describes my life. It’s just one crazy misstep after another, but I got my happy ending.

4. What inspired your latest book? Centauri Twilight is the second book in the Centauri Series. I used to dream that I was a princess from Alpha Centauri, that was the basis for Centauri Dawn, book 1 in the series.

Book 2 is much darker. Lara is the twin sister of Audra in book 1. Lara has been a sex slave since she was a child. Having escaped, she’s now an outlaw and working to free the rest of the slaves who are now her people.

5. What is your favorite part of writing? My favorite part is what I call the ‘puking’ phase. Just getting it all down on paper for the first time. You just let if flow out of you, not caring, for the moment, if it is good or bad.

6. What is your least favorite part of writing? Editing is my least favorite. I’m constantly questioning myself and my work. Changing it, correcting it, putting it back to what it was and starting it all again. It’s never good enough for me.

7. What is your next project and when will it be released? My next book is called CENTAURI MIDNIGHT and is the third book in the Centauri Series. It will be released in January 2012.

8. What is your typical day like? I don’t know that I have a typical day. I’m lucky enough to be able to write full time. I was laid off in June and am taking advantage of it to write while I look for another job.

9. How much time do you spend promoting your books? What works best for you? I spend a lot of time promoting my books. A minimum of two hours per day. Usually more but it is in 15 or 20 minute increments throughout the day, not in one big chunk. Between Facebook, Twitter, blogging, putting announcements on loops, etc, I spend a lot of time doing it. So far, blogging seems to get me the biggest bump in my sales.

10. How has your experience with self-publishing been? My experience has been wonderful. I highly recommend it for everyone out there who doesn’t want to be constrained by the “big” traditional publisher. For everyone who wants to write from their heart and not according to the industry rules and constraints, self publishing is the only way to go.

11. Where do you get the ideas for your stories? I have ideas from everywhere. My sci-fi series is from my dreams as a teenager. My western was inspired by my parents own meeting and love story. I place Tame A Wild Heart about 60 years earlier than when my parents met but the setting on a ranch is the same. My dad was a real cowboy and my mom was what we would call a nanny now. They were called nursemaids then.

12. What advice do you have for other authors wanting to self-publish? Go for it. It’s a wild ride but totally worth it.

Cynthia Woolf was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the mountains west of Golden. She spent her early years running wild around the mountain side with her friends.

Their closest neighbor was one quarter of a mile away, so her little brother was her playmate and her best friend. That fierce friendship lasted until his death in 2006.

Cynthia was and is an avid reader. Her mother was a librarian and brought new books home each week. This is where young Cynthia first got the storytelling bug. She wrote her first story at the age of ten. A romance about a little boy she liked at the time.

She worked her way through college and went to work full time straight after graduation and there was little time to write. Then in 1990 she and two friends started a round robin writing a story about pirates. She found that she missed the writing and kept on with other stories. In 1992 she joined Colorado Romance Writers and Romance Writers of America. Unfortunately, the loss of her job demanded the she not renew her memberships and her writing stagnated for many years.

In 2000, she saw an ad in the paper for a writers conference being put on by CRW and decided she'd attend. One of her favorite authors, Catherine Coulter, was the keynote speaker. Cynthia was lucky enough to have a seat at Ms. Coulter's table at the luncheon and after talking with her, decided she needed to get back to her writing. She rejoined both CRW and RWA that day and hasn't looked back.

Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband Jim and the great friends she's made at CRW for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

“Audra, please. You’re my queen but you’re also my friend. You must grant me this last request. Let me go after him.” Tensign Kiti Dolana paced the beautiful sitting room. Bile rose in her throat threatened to strangle her. Finally, she collapsed into a chair it’s soft cushions swallowing her as she sat across the small, highly polished and gleaming, coffee table from the Queen of Centauri, her friend.

The Queen, pregnant with triplets, her beautifully distended tummy disallowing much frivolous movement, reclined on the couch. She sat up to pour the tea but had trouble reaching the tea pot in the middle of the coffee table. “Kiti would you pour our tea, I’m a bit like a beached whale right now.” Audra was anything but a beached whale. Kiti knew the colloquial term from her study of Earth.

Her queen was radiant. Her long, chestnut hair falling in waves to her waist was gathered on one side of her head. Her clear gray eyes shone bright in her pale face. She wore a beautiful royal purple empire waisted dress that highlighted her pale features. She was beautiful. Kiti remembered a time, on their way back to Centauri from Earth, when she’d not thought so, because she was jealous.

That was before Audra’s marriage to Darius and when she’d still be betrothed to Anton. Kiti had been in love with Anton, at least she thought she was, and was jealous of Audra. Some of the things she said were unkind, but Audra had seen them for what they were, jealousy and forgiven her the words. They were now the best of friends.

Kiti poured the tea and continued to beseech her queen. “Audra, you have to let me go after him. He killed my brother Joridan, his actions led to Anton being captured and tortured. I need to see they get justice, they deserve it.”

“And you are sure it is only justice you seek?” Audra softly asked.

“Damn it, Audra.” Kiti was up and pacing the room again. Her long black hair was tied in a high pony tail and swung back and forth with each step she took. The thick, plush carpet kept her boots from clicking on the floor. “I’m begging you to let me go with Garrick Marcus. It’s not just revenge I need. I need closure. I’m the one who should deliver Tybold to the authorities. Garrick Marcus is the best captain in the fleet and I know Darius is sending him after Tybold. Joridan needs us both to avenge his death. To bring his murderer back to Centauri for justice to be served.”

“Kiti, are you combat trained? We don’t know what to expect from the Proconians. By this time, Tybold could have convinced them we are conquerors and he’s their only salvation. We don’t know. It could be a suicide mission. I don’t want to lose my best friend.” She went on. “I know you’re grieving. Joridan’s loss and Lara’s return has been very hard on you.”

“Stop.” Kiti jumped up and started to pace again. “I know what my life has been like. I mourn the loss of Joridan life and Anton’s capture and torture by Slavarien. Joridan was my little brother. Even though he was a head taller than me he will always be my little brother. I still smell Joridan’s scent in his room. Sometimes it’s so fresh it’s like he just passed by.” Her eyes filled with tears, “I miss the closeness that Anton and I once shared but I do not bemoan him finding Lara. I’m very happy he found his lifemate. It was something he never thought to be able to do. After the torture that both Anton and Lara suffered at the hands of the Slavariens, it’s amazing that they found each other. I wish I had a lifemate out there somewhere.

“Audra, I’m a historian and anthropologist, but first I’m Dragonera. Of course, I am combat trained. All Dragonera are. We are the Royal Guard. We are the best.”

“Yes. You’re right, but I worry anyway. Must be my maternal instinct.” Audra patted her belly.

“You know that the people of Procon are centuries behind us technologically. I’m the only person who can go on this mission that knows anything about their culture.”

“I don’t know,” Audra hesitated.

“Admit it. Garrick needs me.”

“We don’t interfere in the development of other planets’ civilizations. You know that.”

“Tybold has already interfered. I say we’ll be evening the odds for the tribes involved. And it’s not as though Procon doesn’t know we exist. They already trade with other planets. Just because they’re not our technological equals doesn’t mean they aren’t advanced.”

Kiti saw Audra hesitate before she answered. “I must confer with Darius before I can give you my answer.”

At that moment Darius came in accompanied by Garrick, Anton and Lara. The three men were in their Dragonera uniforms as was Kiti. The only differences being the color blocking. Darius and Garrick wore amethyst uniforms with cream colored sleeves, denoting their status as starship Captains. Darius’ uniform also had a cream colored stripe from the left shoulder to the waist, denoting that he was Captain of the Royal Guard. As a general in the Royal Army, Anton’s uniform was solid amethyst. Lara, Audra’s twin sister, still had the tanned skin from someone who’s spent too much time in the sun. She wore the House of Danexx royal colors like everyone else did. Hers were an amethyst jumpsuit and long cream colored duster. Kiti’s uniform was solid cream. Her rank as Tensign was denoted by a patch on her left arm.

“What do you need to discuss with me?” Darius asked as he took his wife’s arm and helped her to rise from the couch. She gave him a quick kiss. Darius rubbed her stomach then bent and said, “Hello, my children. Are you being nice to your mommy today?”

Kiti swore he expected an answer.

“If you don’t quit that people are going to think you’re crazy,” said Audra.

Darius laughed and kissed her belly.

“I am. Crazy in love with my wife.”

Lara made gagging sounds. ‘Will you two remember that you have an audience?”

“All right. But you and Anton are just as bad as we are.” Darius said to his soon to be twice over sister-in-law.”

“Never,” retorted Lara. “No one is as over the moons as you two.

“I don’t know, I’m pretty much over the moons about you,” said Anton waggling his eyebrows at her.

The banter was not aimed at Kiti. She didn’t think the two couples even remembered they were not alone. Kiti glanced at Garrick, who rolled his eyes at her. “Audra, the mission.” She reminded her queen tapping her wrist to hurry her.

“Oh yes. Darius, Kiti has requested to be assigned to go with Garrick to Procon, to apprehend Lord Tybold. I told her I would discuss it with you.”

“I don’t know if she will be needed,” Darius responded.

Garrick spoke for the first time since entering the room. “I think an anthropologist would be very useful on this particular mission. Tensign Dolana would be a definite asset to me in bringing in Tybold.”

“Thank you, Garrick. “ Kiti was warmed by his words and agreed with him one hundred percent. To her way of thinking, this mission would only succeed with her help. No one could understand the Proconians better than she could.

“Very well,” said Darius. “You will receive your orders tomorrow. In the mean time, can we eat dinner? I’m a starving man.”

This is me with all the bright eyed kids home. Note, one kid is a bit sleepy. They were too! LOL

My son has an impacted wisdom tooth that's been killing him. His wife came down with a cold. My son in law is allergic to my house. And my daughter and I are doing fine. Fingers crossed.

So I'm off to work this morning for a short while, then I have to get a new monitor because???? Mine is going out on me. That was the verdict from all 5 of us computer whizzes. No loose connections. No computer malfunctions. Just one dying monitor. :(

And that's the news from here. We've had wonderful feasts. Terrific game playing company. I haven't won one of the games yet, but I'm just giving everyone a false sense of superiority, and then...yeah, like the poker player who is really a card shark, I'll show them all what I've got.

In my dreams/stories. LOL I died during one of the games 4 times yesterday. That has to be an all time record. And twice my daughter instigated everyone to gang up on me to kill me off. But she didn't win anyway. Karma. You know. LOL

Merry Christmas Eve!!! by Terry Spear

I know I'm really late, but here's what happened. My kids and their spouses landed in on me.

You see...first one turned on the heat to the equivalent of baking so at 3 in the morning I woke to turn the heat lower. Then I see ALL the Christmas lights on everywhere, so I turned everything off. Then I noticed someone had turned off my monitor. It's going out on me so once it's off, I have a devil of a time getting it back on. Then a Christmas elf (redheaded type)...kinda like in The Shadow Elf, yeah, that's the one...

took MY towels out of the bathroom I'm using, so she could use them. I already had given her towels for both of them. LOL

And then I went back to bed and couldn't sleep. Realized I didn't have my clock in my guest room as it was still in the master bedroom where my son and daughter-in-law and menagerie of pets--one cat, one dog, two flying squirrels and a partridge in a pear tree are sleeping. Well, maybe not the latter, but close. :)

And still couldn't sleep, fretting about getting out early enough to get to work for 3 hours, and then come home before anyone else woke up.

Remember the other day's post about the best laid plans? Yep...same today.

Woke up at 8:00!!!!! EIGHT O'CLOCK!!! Yeegads, then since I couldn't get on the monitor because I couldn't get anything but a blank screen, I couldn't write a blog.

I get home from work and everyone's leaving!!! Son and DIL are off to Walmart. Daughter and SIL are off to see his sister. And I'm....

HOME ALONE. Well, sort of. With the cat, the dog, two flying squirrels and the partridge in the pear tree. I'm sure it's around here somewhere. Oh, and you remember I fretted about cleaning the place up. That went by the wayside as soon as the son and DIL, cat, dog, two flying squirrels, you know the rest, came in yesterday afternoon. :)

Which means now is the absolutely perfect time to catch up emails and write my blogs before everyone comes home again....

So what all important thing came in the emails on Christmas Eve?

Okay, Cupid knew what he was doing!

It's pouring out, supposed to be a high of 29, but it made it to 40, otherwise we would have had the white stuff. We actually truly did have it last Christmas!

The Best Laid Plans....by Terry Spear

Haven't we talked about this before? Not procrastinating? Not putting off what you can do today? Yes. We have. And so do I listen to my own rhetoric?

Sometimes.

I'm off tomorrow, and I'm supposed to get EVERYTHING done that I haven't already. Cleaning. Making fresh beds. Last minute grocery shopping. Mailing contest books. Making wassail, setting out the Christmas scent. Turning on the Christmas lights. Making the house appear like this, without the snow!

This is actually a Silver run cabin up in the Colorado mountains, and Tom's staying there in the midst of a blizzard right now...with an unexpected guest. Thanks to Donna for sending me the picture. She made a run up there looking for Jake, but he wasn't there. And Tom was searching for an angel who fell out of the sky. So she missed seeing him also. But at least she got to play in the cold white stuff for a while since Minnesota is being stingy with the snow this winter!

But back to MY story...

My kids weren't coming in until late. So it works.

Change of plans. Half of the kids--my son and his wife--are now coming in early. LOL

So I went to make the bed in the guest bedroom last night with the new sheets. They don't fit. Oh, no! My mother had a pillow mattress, or whatever they're called and so a standard full size fitted sheet won't fit it. Argh. So now I have to get queen sized sheets, don't know where my receipt is for the other.

I shouldn't have procrastinated about that! Most definitely.

I'm doing laundry this morning, and I need to do a ton of things before work, but I have to also get something for a coworker's birthday party before work too...so double argh. I don't have much time before work, and tonight is my vampire shift. We all had forgotten about her birthday until the last minute what with the holidays and all. (We have 3 coworkers birthdays this month!) *sigh*

Ghosts in Scotland?

Yes, of course. Donna mentioned on my picture of the Scottish town that two ghosts were pictured. It's amazing what you can pick up in a photo that you can't see with the naked eye. These are untouched photos. No photo-shopping.

I just saw a book and put it on request to read about it further, about ghosts in Cameron Park where I've hiked, never envisioning such a thing. But several bikers had lost their lives on the trails and they've been seen to walk the place still. This is a picture of Cameron Park when I visited.

Scotland...

Whether at a Scottish castle and nearly hidden entrances...

or in a Scottish town, everything had an old world feel about it.

I loved it! It seemed unreal at times, the way everything was so similar and uniform, which I loved. It made our towns seem so hodgepodge and mixed up with every design and building material crammed together.

It was gray on both days, but I loved it! After months of hot Texas sun, it was a welcome change and reminded me of Oregon, which I love also!

Off to work! Have a super Tuesday! I'm in Scotland today, or at least it feels like it. Cold and gray and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! Lots of rain last night, winds were not as high as they predicted, which was the good news!

I'm having some mandarin green tea with Sia McKye this morning, well all day, with more giveaways. I have to smile at my title: Where the Wildlife Can Eat You, while she has the loveliest Christmas music playing.

I do really truly have a good reason for writing such a blog for Christmas week. My son made me do it! I wrote it after seeing him graduate from the AF navigator training program in Pensacola, Florida and we watched Shark Week all week. So Where the Wildlife Can Eat You was definitely on my mind! And I did write this last month, a long time before I was even thinking thoughts of Peace on Earth or Joy to the World! :)

I WAS Going to Work, but...

Note that it is a vampire day here in Texas...cold, misty, foggy, wet and perfect for the wolves to stay inside today!

I had already taken leave to be off today and I still am trying to finish up the final guest blogs (3 nearly done, 1 more after that), will decorate and clean some more, and figured this is going to be another Christmas gift to me! LOL

I needed it! I'm still working like crazy, but it's less stressful if I'm not at work worrying about having to get all this done before Christmas in just a short time.

I have to admit that I haven't read any other books in the Heart of the Wolf series, but I've heard really good things about it, so when I saw this book listed on NetGalley I decided to give it a try. I can honestly say that I now see why everyone loves this series!! And the best part is that this book can definitely stand on its own! Even without knowing what happens in the previous books of the series, Terry Spear lets you know what's what without making you feel like you are being dumped information.

He sees a beautiful woman at the art gallery where his photos are on display, and his intrigue turns into wolfish protectiveness. Alicia Greiston has never met anyone like Jake-he's sexy, alpha, and totally irresistible, and he calls to something primal in her soul."

Jake Silver goes to drop of some photographs he took at an art gallery in Breckenridge, Colorado, and he's planning a quick in and out so he can get back to his home in Silver City, where his pack is located. But when he sees a very attractive woman surreptitiously taking photos of a car's license plate on the same street, he's curious (and interested) enough to follow her into a restaurant. It turns out she's a bounty hunter named Alicia Greiston and she's bound and determined to take down a couple of mob guys by herself, to keep a promise she made to herself when her mother was murdered by these same men. I thoroughly enjoyed my first foray into Terry Spear's writing! The sex scenes were hot, hot, HOT - but that wasn't all there was to the book by any means. The story was one that drew you in, and you really cared about all of the characters. I can tell you this for sure - I am definitely going to go back to the very beginning of this series and read the first seven books because if they are anywhere as good as this one was, I know I'm going to fall in love with Silver City and its very interesting citizens!

In summary, I highly recommend this book for paranormal lovers and werewolf lovers alike!!

Dreaming of the Wolf was a fantastic read!! Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter who wants to make sure justice is served and her mothers murderers are put behind bars for good! While she realizes that she is dealing with members of the mob, she just doesn't realize just how far in over her head she is!
Jake Silver is a true alpha male werewolf! He has never been interested in finding himself tied down to a mate....until he spots Alicia. But she's a human and he realizes that the cards are stacked against him. Right away she intrigues him. He feels the need to know her business. He wants to protect her and keep her close.
The plot moved along at a great pace. I found myself up late at night and into the early morning hours devouring this book! The characters are interesting and easy to relate to. The romance is amazing and sensual. If you love werewolves, you are sure to love Dreaming of the Wolf! I will be reading more of Terry Spears books!! I highly recommend them!!

The action and suspenseful romance kept me turning pages. The characters were like old friends. Very realistic and likeable. You can easily find yourself wrapped up in them. I would completely recommend this book to any readers looking for a great read.

First off let me just say, look at that beautiful, sexy cover for "Dreaming of the Wolf". I love it!!!! You know to not ever judge a book by it's cover, but this one, I have to say is one reason I adore this book. It seems every book's cover for the Heart of the Wolf Series gets better and better. I have to say also, is the model on the cover fits Jake's description very perfectly and I'm jealous now of Alicia getting Jake in the book. She's one lucky Gal. If you have never read the Heart of the Wolf Series, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Terry Spear writes her wolf series, like they are actual wolves in the wild, not like the movie "The Wolfman." This is one main reason why I adore this series and I can't get enough of the Sexy Alpha Males she comes up with. Now in "Dreaming of the Wolf", we are going back to Silver Town to finally get Jake his Mate. I love Jake not only for his looks, but the Man is a Photographer. He loves taking photos of Wildflowers. I would love to meet a Man who adores taking photos of beautiful things like flowers. I love taking photos myself, and flowers have been my favorite thing to photography since I took of Photography in 2006. The minute I started reading about Jake, I fell head over heels for him. Jake is definitely a very over-protective Alpha Male too, which who wouldn't want this Man watching over them? He finds his perfect Mate while trying to put his photos in a Art Gallery. He comes across Alicia...well, he actually kind of stalks her. Although, I have to say again, she's one lucky gal to have such a sexy hunk stalk her. Jake doesn't realize he's about to meet Alicia who is in kind of bind with the Mob. She is a Bounty Hunter and she's trying to put her Mom's killers behind bars where they belong. She has no idea she's about to fall into the Supernatural world that she never thought could exist and she is also about to meet the One Man who will change her luck on Love and Marriage. Let's just say, that Alicia gets lucky even in the beginning of the book and I loved the Woods Scene. =) From beginning to end, I had a hard time putting down this book. I love how Terry Spear, always makes the story so interesting. This book took you into the world of Mobsters and what would happen if you threw in Werewolves in the mix. She also brings back old characters from previous books. I love getting a look at Lelandi's pregnancy more and having Darrien again. Yum!!! I also loved the ending the most. Who would thought, a Wedding would happen at Silver Town...but when I woman puts her mind into something, who can say No to Lovely Lelandi. "Dreaming of the Wolf" has become one of my FAVE books I've read in 2011 and I definitely look forward to the next book in the series coming out next year. The best part is I got a sneak peek of "A Seal in Wolf's Clothing" at the end of "Dreaming of the Wolf". I'm looking forward to reading about Meara and Finn Emerson. Thank you again, Terry Spear for my Alpha Male Fix again this year. I look forward to the next books in the series and again, you have a FAN for life!!! I recommend this to any reader out there that has an obsession with Sexy Alpha Males and Daring Heroines. You will definitely enjoy this book and all the other books in the Series.

I love every Terry Spear book I have read. Dreaming of the Wolf was wonderful, and if you like paranormal romances, then you should really enjoy this book.

Like all of Spear's books, Dreaming of the Wolf also has the great character development, plot and romances that we will always know come with her books. There were a few twists and turns and a sweet romance that starts at first sight.

It's Feeling a Bit Like Christmas....Not!

Okay, it's not snowing, but it feels like it could and I just wanted you all to know that I LOST track of time!!! Blog tour, working, writing and promoting, you know, the usual!

Anyway, while I was working late at the library last night, I was looking at the schedule because a lot of folks were changing their hours and I realized, to my absolute horror, that we only have 2 weeks until Christmas!!! What in the world happened to the 3 weeks until Christmas???

It got away from me! I need a wolf pack to help me: write some more guest blog posts, make a teddy bear, decorate the house some more, CLEAN the house, and SHOP for Christmas!!!

Argh.

Oh, yeah, and did I mention send Christmas cards? I should have been clued in when I began receiving them. Here I thought it was kind of early!

I really appreciated that the author allowed the storyline to develop without hammering the reader with innumerable wolf references and side comments. This was an interesting story that easily captured my attention, and as always, I look forward to reading more about this lupus garou pack.

A Ghost of a Chance at Love is romantic suspense at its best! This is only the second Terry Spear romance I've ever read, but I absolutely loved it! It's the most unusual time-travel romance I've had the pleasure of reading, filled with adventure, mystery, intrigue, and heartwarming romance. You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll become involved in the story and how much is going on at any given moment. I adored the characters and you'll feel the romance right away. Even though it was against Jack's better judgment to get involved with Lisa, he fell for her right away and wanted to protect her, cherish her, and make her his wife. They just needed to get beyond a few complications. You're going to love the twists and turns this story takes and it will definitely instill the warm-and-fuzzy feelings any good romance will give you! I highly recommend A Ghost of a Chance at Love!

Cold!

But I have to remind myself it IS December. Sometimes in Texas it doesn't seem like winter will ever get here. And then, it comes in with a roar.

It's 32 degrees out, 42 degrees in. I just turned on the heat. But the wind is blowing so we have an even chillier day.

Alicia Greiston is a bounty hunter in Breckeridge, Colorado. She usually goes after female bail jumpers but now she is going after some big fish. She is after a mob boss and his right hand. Alicia's mother has always dated men who are involved with the mob in one way or another. Alicia has always worried about her mother getting hurt. A few months ago her worst fears came true. Her mother and the man she was seeing at the time were shot and killed on a local hiking trail. There were no leads on the case but Alicia knew who shot them and not only that but who had ordered the hit. When both men miss their court date, Alicia is determined to bring them both in.

Jake Silver is the second to his brother who is the pack leader in their small town. His new sister-in-law talks him into taking his wildlife photos to a gallery in Beckeridge. While waiting for the gallery to open, Jake sees a woman taking a picture of the plates on a parked car. When she goes into a local restaurant he follows her in. There is something about her that intrigues not only him but his wolf as well. Jake knows that a relationship between the two of them is not going to happen because Alicia is human. When Jake sees a thug trying to get Alicia to leave the restaurant with him, Jake comes to her rescue. The more time they spend together it seems the closer they grow. When Alicia gets word that the mob boss will kill Jake if she does not leave him, she is worried that it will happen so she skips town. Jake heads back home after having no luck trying to track Alicia down. He starts having dreams about Alicia and he is confused because a dream mating can only happen between two wolfs, not a human. On her own Alicia faces many changes and surprises; she comes to know that she needs Jake.

This is the eight installments of Ms. Spear's Werewolf series. I have loved each and every one of the books in this series. This story is a love-at-first-sight kind of story. The humor between the two main characters had me laughing out loud. There was enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat. I have not been disappointed in any of the books in this series. They are all keepers. Book nine will be out March of 2012 it is titled A Seal in Wolf's Clothing.

*sigh* A man, an alpha male, a werewolf. Could it get any better? For years and years I was team vampire, there was nothing else of any importance. However, I think the tides are turning and I am team werewolf. How could you not be? I have yet to read a story about a werewolf that is some wimpy little cowardly pup. No way. They are these big hulking alpha male men, ready to defend and protect their women and their pack at all costs. *swoon*

And now I get to add Jake Silver to my list of favorite. This book is #8 it the Heart of the Wolf series. Which, embarrassingly, I didn’t realize when I requested the book from NetGalley. Then looking through my kindle, I see I also have #5!! Whew! Anyhow, this book easily read as a stand alone book. There was no point that I felt lost in this world. Everyone was described and everything fit.

This story’s heroine is Alicia Greiston. Her mother was murdered six months ago, and she is out to avenge her mothers death. She doesn’t want to kill the guy who did it, she just wants justice and wants him in prison where he belongs. So she goes through training, she becomes a bounty hunter. She may look like this petite little thing, but the girl can pack a punch and uses her feminine appearance to her advantage. Usually she deals with female criminals, but now she has finally been handed the case she really wants. Mario and his henchmen – mob guys.

Then we meet the hero male lead of the story, Jake Silver. Va va va voom, this guy has it all (as I’ve already noted haha). Oh, did I forget to mention he takes stunning photographs? The man is the whole package. He sees Alicia, and instantly wants her – a human!

I really enjoyed this book, and all of its twists and turns. There was a lot of action, and the picture was painted very clearly. I kept finding myself waiting for my next free moment, itching to turn on my kindle and see what happens next. Poor Alicia keeps finding herself in trouble, time after time. These guys are proving harder to catch than she had anticipated!

And the love scenes were hot, and plentiful enough that I didn’t feel like the book was just about these two hooking up or, on the opposite hand, that they didn’t feel “it” for each other. They were hot together. And the dreaming was an addition I really enjoyed to this story.

The author did a fantastic job dealing with the wolves in their wolf form. I really felt like I was looking through the eyes of a wolf. The great thing about shifter stories is you get this whole other layer of the characters. Sure, you get to know them as humans, but then you get to really know them – the true person – as their shifter self. And in this book particularly, the way wolves interacted with each other and their surroundings really lent a realistic feel to the book.

I am definitely going to read the rest of this series, starting with book one. Terry Spear has a new fan, and I can’t wait to start!

I had to share this review for Dreaming of the Wolf! It's terrific!

Dark Diva Reviews Ms. Spear has a flair for the paranormal and if you're not careful, her characters just may leave you drooling (lol). The sexual tone of the book is sensual from the very beginning and it only gets more intense as the story develops. The sex is frequent, explicit, and infinitely arousing. With the sex, romance, shapeshifting wolves, and all the intrigue, Dreaming of the Wolf packs quite a wallop! This one's a KEEPER!

Alicia has a very unique ability…she’s able to “see” the dark fae. Even when they think they’re invisible, Alicia is able to determine where they are. She totally has to keep her cool…if Deveron realizes she knows what he is, he’ll end her…once and for all.

While she maintains a very good poker face around his kind, he definitely looks forward to tripping her up. This is the most entertainment he’s had in a while. What an amazing read. The Dark Fae is so dark and twisty, while at the same time amusing and flirty. This is the first Terry Spear book I’ve ever read and I have to say I’m astonished at the creativity that went into this first installment of the World of Fae series. I was riveted from the very first sentence. Alicia is a smart aleck who doesn’t quite know when to back off. She had me laughing more times than I can count. Even though she’s scared for her life, she’s tough and won’t back down. I respect that in a heroine. Deveron is delicious and dangerous. He’s the bad boy we all love and he will not let readers down. All of the drama with the dark fae vs. the human world really kept me enthralled. I couldn’t wait to find out whether Alicia would get caught and what would happen to her if she did. Oh and let’s not forget the romance. Wowzers! Alicia and Deveron are hot together…mostly due to the fact that she’s always sniping at him. Like I said, very amusing. This is a couple all readers will root for. They’re the couple who doesn’t belong together so of course, we all want them to make it. The Dark Fae is definitely a must read and I will be recommending it to everyone I know. I can’t wait to devour the rest of the series!

Luckily for her Jake is a lot more than he seems and knows how to protect himself and her from whatever threats might come their way. Jake’s instincts are telling him to protect Alicia but when they starting having very real passionate dreams together Jake knows that Alicia is more to him than he first realized and now he will show her how a wolf protects his mate.

With the passion that flairs between Alicia and Jake they are going to have to find a way to take down the bad guys and keep themselves safe while dealing with their attraction for each other. Alicia may not realize at first just how capably Jake is at taking care of them both but she is about to learn just what kind of man Jake truly is.

This is a wonderful continuation to a series that is sure to please reader that love werewolves. The premise of this series really makes it stand out in a genre that has a great many wonderful stories in it. The author has managed to write a series that stays fresh and will keep the reader interested and addicted to the series. This will bring back some characters that readers familiar with this series will recognize and get a chance to visit again. This is one worth reading.

It's my late night, so I get to eat at home, and I can't decide, hot sausage spaghetti, or beef ribs. The beef ribs are already defrosted, but the spaghetti appeals more. Hmmm....tapping on lip. Then methinks, I have the last of the turkey left, maybe I should just be lazy, heat that up with the leftover gravy, a potato, some broccoli and not give it anymore thought! Or not.

I got the bear and books for a reviewer ready to ship. And now I just have to ship them! Isn't that always the problem? First it was finding mailing envelopes and boxes and the like. Then it was getting the sticky tape to unstick enough to stick to the box and envelope and now they're just sitting there. Waiting for me to do something with them. Like ship them. Don't you wish they could do something on their own?

This morning, I'm also working on two interviews, and I was trying to log in to get my Best Buy points to use in the store, for Christmas, you know.

But here's the trouble...I try to log in, don't remember my password, so they say I probably haven't already signed up online yet. Okay. So I sign up. They say I've already signed up. Okay. So I try to have the password sent. Not right email address. Huh? I'm getting the messages on my current email address. Okay. So I have to put in my card number and send the password that way. It sent it to my old email address. Which I can't access. Okay.

I'm still not ready to give up because I have Reward points and I want to use it on some Christmas shopping.

How can something so simple become such a time waster? I sent an email to the help desk.

Have you ever had such a quandary? Should I send one of my wolves to straighten the matter out? Which one, do you think?

Ever Think You're Going to be at One Place that Day...and You're NOT?

My life is orderly. Sometimes. Not today.

I'm on Google+ and a lady in my book lovers circle sent a cute picture of an owlet, so that made me want to send a picture of Fairy Glen in Scotland that it's truly magical. I hadn't planned to be there or do that.

Yesterday, my publisher for my Highland series asked us to blog on the Vinspire site. So I put together a blog about Scotland and a hunky Highlander in Winning the Highlander's Heart. So I'm there today. Also. Though it wasn't on the schedule either.

Do You Set Goals???

I have to if I'm ever to get everything done in a day, or weekend, or whatever time I have off. I planned to get 3 guest blogs done and an interview and make up the confetti bear, and watch a movie that I need to return to the library today. I accomplished all but 1 of the blogs, though I did 3 others. But the one needs to be done soon. I still need to get the bear ready to ship once I find a box.

One of the great ways to motivate yourself to accomplish goals is to have a deadline. A ticking time bomb, if you will. :) Sometimes self-imposed deadlines work, like getting so much writing done in a weekend. But with these, they all have real deadlines.

I don't like to procrastinate because you know what happens when you procrastinate?

You forget.
You have tons of other stuff that you have to do that come up.
And sometimes, a girl's just gotta have fun. (like watching the move...though I must say I was working on the bear while I watched the movie. Multi-tasking is also important!) :)

So I'm off to another awful Monday. We're going to be short-handed again, so what's new....

And it's FREEZING outside...well, and inside too! :)

Yikes, It's Sunday!

Confetti Bear

I'm going to say that until I get caught up, which is never!!!

Oh, all right, I shouldn't be such a pessimist. I'll get caught up if I quit asking for more blog tours! I have 4 guest blogs to write today, and though this cute little bear is so adorable and looks so MADE, she is not. I have to start from scratch to create the enticing little confetti creation. I have to warn though that I don't have much more of the fabric left. They stopped making it and I bought up all that I could. *sigh* But she, when she is a she and not just fabric, will be off to a new home where a new baby resides. :)

I just sent a Mac Bear...as in a Celtic bear to a new baby in France too. :) That was fun! :)

Yikes, It's Saturday!

Which should be a good thing, but I'm working. My monitor isn't working. The Internet isn't working half the time because of storms. And I think it would be a perfect time to go back to bed and start all over again!
