Knobby Knees and Garden Fun

I'm not sure what kind of a tree this is, rose of Sharon, maybe? The rest died and it has only a couple of branches coming out of the root, and started to bloom again. I guess I should cut off the rest of the tree, but not sure.

Here are crepe myrtles, some pink, some watermelon, some red. They say that you should have one color for massing and making things look really spectacular. My mother loved to plant all different colors. They're beautiful no matter the color though. I had some purple at my house that I loved. I LOVE purple flowers.

Here are the watermelon color. Behind them are red crepe myrtle.

And knobby knees! See in the bark mulch? There are three of them from left to right, the one at the edge of the picture. They're the roots from the Cypress tree. I should have gotten a picture of the Cypress too! I nearly tripped over them while I was pulling weeds and realized then that they were the knobby knees of the Cypress.

Here is an everblooming rose bush that keeps on blooming from spring through winter. Only when we have a really harsh cold does it quit blooming.

And that's it for knobby knees and summer flowers!

Back to my writing cave!!!

How's your hump day stacking up???

I'm amazed in that drought and heat you have so many blooming trees and flowers. You must bust your Butt to keep them watered. Great Pictures!! I've never seen a Cypress trees knobby knees before. I always buy Cypress Mulch for my Gardens. That's my favorite Mulch.

I love the pictures. I think the first one is a Rose of Sharon too. I've never heard of knobby knees from Cypress trees but we don't have Cypress up here. They are so beautiful, I wish we did.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.

The Cypress gets a little droopy, but if I can, I only water once a week. The crepe myrtles love the heat! The jasmine gets a little droopy if it doesn't get enough water, and my trees in the backyard are shedding a few leaves from stress. :( That's what I have too, Cypress mulch. I think it's supposed to last longer. At least it doesn't float away like pine chips.

Thanks, Bonnie! I think I need to cut away the main tree. Poor tree. It got hit by the drought last year. And one of my palms...can't think of what it's called, is coming back! I couldn't believe seeing one of it's fronds! I thought they were dead from two years ago! It pays to leave some of this stuff in the ground for a year or two to see if it will revive. I'll take pictures of both the Cypress tree and the frond tomorrow. :)
