I'm Not a Late Night Person, but...

NEWS! The Accidental Highland Hero is up for a vote! http://theromancestudio.com/5heart_form.php

I've given my vote to Caroline Clemmons for being kind enough to let me know I'm even up for a vote! But if anyone would like to vote, here 'tis! Got to go to work!!!

I'm not a late night person, as in working late at night is not for me. I often work late at night at home, but thinking in public??? Well, I'm an early morning person, often up at 5 AM...but on Thursdays I'll be working until 9 PM.

Instead of thinking of that, I wanted to think of dreamy werewolf hunks like this. :)

Let's see, in the continuing saga of library problems, someone knocked our automatic doors off their hinges, our whole check in system went down at ALL the libraries and I couldn't figure out how to flash the lights (they're automatic) to let patrons know we are closing! :)

Who knows but someone might have been left in overnight. Oh well, they can have a tv, movies, books to read, and leftovers in the fridge.

No couches though. :)

Hope you all have a super Thursday! Can you believe it's the last day in September!!!

I'm going to be so tired for Friday!!!

Are You Ever THIS Tired?

First, I wanted to thank my friends and fans who send me neat pictures. To Cat, who shared another golden eyed creature that I loved, and wished to add it on my blog for today. And to Susan who shared pictures of just how I feel with the pictures of the cats and dogs!! And Stephanie who sent me Arctic wolf pictures. And...ahem, well, uhm, and Donna, but I can't share the pictures she sent! :)

But hey, they're very important for research. Yes. They. Are. :)

Thanks to Stephanie, for sending me a bunch of lovely white wolf photos. I love them, but can't remember where I tucked them away. :( But I'll share them on subsequent posts.

And to Cat who sent me the golden eyed animal in the shadows. So is this a coyote, or a wolf, or something else? Seems perfect for Halloween, doesn't it? :)

And this is me, a little less furry, but trying to stay awake as my son talked to me on the phone later after a very long day at work.

And this is how I felt when all my furniture was moved all over the house and I just wanted to find a place that was quiet to crash.

And this is how I felt when I'd come home from work and have to fix a meal in the hot un-air conditioned kitchen.

And here I am again looking for a place to curl up and stay out of everyone's path as the tile work was ongoing.

And here, oh, it doesn't matter how hard the furniture is if I could just shut my eyes for a moment without interruption.

This looked like my yellow Lab, except she had a large pillow type bed, but yes, I totally have been feeling like this!

Or like this--wishing to take a well deserved and needed nap.

But this is my favorite. Finding a companion to curl up with!

My cat used to sleep tucked up against my Lab's chest.

Oh. All Right. So I'll share one of Donna's pictures or everyone will be mad at me. :)

Well two...the first didn't suit the theme of being sleepy, so I found the second, and well, don't you think it works?

Have a super hump day, and hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

Golden Eyes

I was reading a fantasy where the person who was a certain kind of creature (I was listening to an audio book, so don't want to put the words in print when I have no idea how anything was spelled), but if anyone saw the yellow eyes, they'd be terrified.

It reminded me of the wolves and wolf dogs with the golden eyes that were so spell binding that I saw at the wolf sanctuary.

And it made me think of how I blend my werewolves with their human and wolf halves and try to make them seem as realistic as possible.

Wolves' eyes come in a variety of color--but never blue unless they're pups. Green, hazel, brown, golden--all are suitable wolf/human combination.

So I went on a search for golden eyes--human and wolf/wolf-dog and this is the fun I had that I wanted to share with you. :)

I love fantasy and I love the real world, so blending the two is a challenge to make it seem as real as possible, and avoid having the problems that in the fantasy I was listening to come to pass.

Yet, if a character's eyes were as unusual as some of these, they would be noticeable, stand out, maybe even mesmerize or frighten the viewer, don't you think?

Would golden eyes frighten you?

Or maybe only if the golden eyed creature also came with big teeth?

Have a super Tuesday!!

Before....After!

Lately, everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong. My main computer has been down for a month and a half. My AC also--it was "fixed" with a new capacitor and then that went out after a week and now I need a whole new AC/heat pump. Thankfully, I have another unit in the other half of the house until I can get this resolved. And the temperature finally dropped!!!

And I had flooding, ruined the bedroom carpeting and so decided to go with tile.

My home phone isn't working--needs new batteries, I think, can't find any.

It's just been one of those months--which has lasted about 2 months.

Oh, and I forgot, my oven went out almost a year ago....*sigh* That's a whole other story. I had plans to buy a new one...but nothing worked out--

So I'm all through with one of the problem situations--the flooding/moldy carpet replaced with new tile.

I wanted to share pictures before everything is cleaned up and the furniture moved in, so I took these after they finished grouting the bathroom tile late late Saturday night. They arrived at 5:30 pm and left at 10:30. Since I'd been up at 5 am and worked for half the day, I was tired!!!

I love Before and After pictures! I only wish I didn't have to go through the transition mess in between!!!

This was the bathroom 2 different tiles before:

Now here is the new improved bathroom:

Here is the bedroom, bathroom tile, moldy carpet before:

Here is the bedroom now, all uniform, brighter, more cheerful, and dust free and mold free! :

Much of an improvement! I only wished I had helped my mother do this before she was gone, although dealing with the mess would have been even worse for her!

Have you had problems that seem to escalate until you're ready to shout, "Enough, already!!!"

Have a super Monday!!! :) Today I'm feeling great---wait until the hoards come to the library and it's a disaster. :) It's not that I'm a pessimist--but, tons of stuff is not working and we're going to have complaints about it all day long. *heavy sigh*

He's the Alpha???

This wolf dog believed he was the alpha pack leader, though if he were out in the wild, he'd have been in trouble as heavy as he was. He was the only one who had an air conditioned den, so I guess he truly was the alpha male!!!

He also would refuse to eat (although it looked as though this could be a good thing), if anyone fed any of the other wolves or wolf dogs first. :)

Here were a couple of the wolf dogs--I thought the one lying down looked more wolf like, longer, thinner face, narrow body. I think the one standing up was the one who shook the fence between him and the next pen. The whole thing moved so much, I figured he'd push right through. I don't know if one of the wolf dogs in the next pen fascinated him or irritated him. Though it looked more like love at first sight. :)

I came home from work on Saturday to a smell that was worse than the abominable stench in Labrynth. It had to do with the toilet having been moved, and nothing to stop the smell from entering from the septic tank. It was fine since Tuesday, until I came home from work on Saturday. So they came to work on the tile last night, I have a horrible, evil headache, and I'm in the un-air conditioned part of the house. And it's HOT, but it smells nice.

My daughter called to say they're still working on the computer. I have no phone, and still can't find batteries, and I'm about ready for a lobotomy because my head hurts so.

And then there will be Monday! :) I need another weekend off!

Hope you all have a super Sunday! I'm hoping the guys will finish the tile work today.

The Tile Man Cometh!

Here is the bedroom now:

It makes it so much brighter and uniform and cleaner! :)

Much of an improvement! I only wished I had helped my mother do this before she was gone, although dealing with the mess would have been even worse for her!

*sigh* Now to deal with the day ahead. The "soft opening" that wasn't supposed to be advertised and then it was anyway.

Wolf Dog Jumper

Wolves can jump 35 feet, and here is a wolf dog who successfully leapt out of her pen--twice. Even though she's really loving toward humans, and she's very dog-like, she's very wolf like too when you look into her eyes, don't you think?

Why would she not be home with a family? I had a standard poodle once, given to me by a woman whose health was failing. I already had a standard poodle, so took in Angelina too. The name means Angel, although she was far from it. Totally loving, yes, but she had so many faults, one of the biggest--digging out and running.

After the two incidents with the wolf dog, it made me think of how impossible it would be for someone to keep the animal confined in a normal yard with normal fencing. Obviously, even the higher than normal double fencing didn't keep this wolf-dog inside her pen!

So even if the wolf dog is totally good natured, there can be other problems with keeping them.

Here I am petting the wolf dog who had happily just come back from a walk, and she was very thirsty! They kept feeding her ice chips when I thought she needed a nice bowl of water. For the hot climate here, they had misters in each of the pens.

Have a super Saturday! I'm off to work! :)

This is the Final Cover for Wolf Fever!

It's always fun seeing the final cover for a book. I'm looking forward to seeing the cover for Jake's story next. It makes it feel more real when a cover is designed!

I love the almost smile on McKinley's face--I love the colors and the setting.

It's Friday! :) I'll be working Saturday and maybe will have the tile men back that afternoon, maybe not. Sunday if not Saturday. I'll be so glad when this is done!!! Have a great Friday!

Being a Friend

Have you ever been bullied? Wouldn't it be nice to have a friend like this to look over your shoulder and watch out for you???

I was so tired after work yesterday, I came home and went to bed. Suffice it to say, I didn't get word count! :) And I was up at 4 AM this morning, unable to sleep. Hmm, I will be just as tired when I get home tonight.

I'll be coming in to work half a day on Saturday, to get prepared for our "soft" opening. It's not really all that soft because they put signs on the door and the word will spread quickly. We are so not ready. We're supposed to have a cash register--but it's not here yet and we need training on it. We won't have the library holds and we have a lot of people coming to get those, so I'm going in really early to try to get them checked in and put up on the shelves. We're still working on tagging all the books so people can use the express self-check out. It won't help if some books can go through the machine and some can't.

We still don't have all the movies tagged. We sometimes feel we're a free video store instead of a library. :(

*sigh* I do NOT look forward to Monday! :)

Have a super Thursday!!! :)

Hmm, Here's the Tile Again!

This is the way it look this morning, a light morning mist. I wished I had taken a picture of the really heavy spooky mist we had the other day, but I was running late. :)
Great new review of Seduced by the Wolf!

http://www.lovingheartmommy.com/2010/09/terry-spears-seduced-by-wolf-book.html

Put a stake in it vampires, zombies keep on walking on,
its time for the wolves to shine in"Seduced by the Wolf".

Terry Spear's "Seduced by the Wolf" takes a whole new twist on romance featuring wolves.
--Kristinia, Loving Heart Mommy

I'm sooo tired! They stayed until 10 last night and still, the work isn't done. Supposed to be back Saturday or Sunday. :( This is a picture of the bedroom tile. They're still working on the bathroom tile.

Anyway, I'll be sleeping in the living room for the rest of the week. At least the dust they stirred up from removing the old tile has finally settled.

And NO AC. It's going to cost about $4,000 to replace. argh! The guy said I could just wait until next summer. It's in the 90s every day still!!! The worst part is I paid $185 to have the capacitor changed out, and that obviously didn't work after a couple of weeks, no refund on that, no taking off that botched job on the $4,000. If they can't guarantee their work for any longer than that, I'm looking for another AC man.

*sigh* Have a super Wednesday!!!

With Love From South Africa

This is more than bizarre. I posted a blog with the picture of the Huskies and the tile work they've done in the bedroom, and when I went to send a link to a fan, the posting was gone. Not scheduled. Not a draft. Just gone. I'm sure there's a story in that! So here is a different version I posted on Redroom.

Off to write. I'm totally discombobulated. I think it's from sleeping in the living room!!!

bibliomaniac

Back to my Highland roots--my great grandmother longed for her Highland roots, and my grandmother married a Highlander and brought him home to Canada with her.

I love receiving fan mail from around the world, and here, Ann from South Africa sent me pictures of her Huskies who howl like wolves! Aren't they beautiful?

This is Anjanka.

And this is Duke!

Thanks, Ann, for sending me pictures of your lovely dogs!

She says that reading about my wolves remind her of her Huskies and I'm thrilled! :)

And for the first time since my mother died last year, I'm doing a book signing in Waco, TX on Nov 12. Several authors are getting together and I waved my hand. So that should be fun!

The tile men should be here soon and the AC repairman too, so I'm hoping to have two things fixed today!

And my word count is going well, so am planning on proposing 3 books at a time, rather than 2 after I finish writing The Wolf and the SEAL. I've been a little afraid to do so with working full time, but I'm hoping to have The Wolf and the SEAL done by November, and my deadline is actually March. I already turned in Dreaming of the Wolf, due Dec.

I really want at least 3 titles out a year. This year, I'll have 5 titles out. Next year only 2.

James Patterson said to make the money he does (or something like that) you have to have a release every month. Hmmm....if I could collaberate on books with someone else like he does, I could do it! :)

Have a super Tuesday!!!
