Brown means...

scrumptious chocolate!

And teddy bears!

The earth, nature, freshly turned soil.

It's roasted turkey browned to a golden tender delight with lots of tasty brown gravy to go with the brown-skinned potatoes.

It's tiger eyes and...

amber.

It's an artistic version of a brown cloudy day.

Gray wolves with brown guard hairs.

Chocolate!!!

A brown kilt for one of the Highland clans.

Brown leather bracers for a Highland warrior...

And more chocolate!

And of course, hot chocolate too!

Do you like brown???

Hmm, at least in the form of chocolate???

Gray includes...

moonstone and hematite...and silver...

a lot of animals in the animal kingdom--gray squirrels, foxes, wolves, birds, elephants, just to name a few.

African Grey Parrots--isn't he handsome?

I'd prefer to see my elephants in a zoo, thank you very much. I get my car dinged enough in parking lots, without an elephant resting his trunk on the top of my car...not to mention all the extra weight on those dusty gray tires...

Can you imagine how much water it takes to give this elephant a bath? I was in love with Dumbo when I was a kid, and wanted to take him home with me. The real thing--not a stuffed Dumbo. LOL

Gray wolves, the kind that are dominant in the wolf species.

When trying to find food that is gray--I think of unappealing and couldn't find much in the line of gray foods, yet sardines are good for you! And mushrooms can be gray also and tasty, especially in beef Straganoff.

Shades of gray--murky, not definitive as opposed to black and white.

I think of gray days as gloomy, stormy.

Stormy gray days.

Or dark and misty.

Dressing in gray can be somber or elegant. My mother used to wear a gray cashmere dress which was lovely.

Gray slate and silver money.

Gray shadows and mystery.

And the signs of age--gray hair.

And Heart of the Wolf of course, that started out the werewolf series, earning Publisher Weekly's Best Book of the Year!!!

Hope your day is anything but gray! What do you think of when you consider the shade of gray?

Black is...

onyx!

And secrets, and seductive, and mystery and death.

Black is the night, and quiet, and vampires and forever.

Black is soothing, and scary, and rejuvenating and powerful.

Here is black licorice from Australia. I couldn't find any pictures of licorice that I normally think of that is black all the way through, but I thought this was really neat!

Black is slimming too!

Black is power--FBI, ninjas--the black suits--the black SUVs with the black windows.

Black lenses on sunglasses lends mystery, intrigue, dark secrets.

Black hats were worn by the bad cowboys. But I don't think he looks all that bad. :)

Black is elegant, professional, a statement of fashion.

Ever arrive at a function in something other than black when EVERYONE else was wearing the color??? Yep, here's moi in blue sapphire. I stood out...and not in a good way. :)

Black is black ravens, and crows and blackbirds.

Blackberries and the sweet delicious jam made from the wild blackberries of Oregon and Oklahoma, too!

So what does black mean to you?

Red is...

sensuous fruits like strawberries and cherries...

And red bell peppers, apples, and tomatoes.

Red is for red hot Santa Clauses!

Red is for this kilted warrior, one of many Highland clans that have red in their plaids...

Red hot lovers and vampire red haze...
the color of passion and of rage. It's hot, warming cold rooms. It's vibrant and catches the eye. I went to see the Broadway play Dracula in NYC one year when I was serving on Active Duty in in New Jersey at Fort Monmouth and all the scenes were done in black and white, except one red object--a red rose, a glass of red wine--the red stood out in such an artistic understatement--the life source of the vampire.

Red for Valentine's Day for red hearts and red hot candy hearts!

Red is for barber poles and patriotic red white and blue.

Fiery red berries of the Pyracantha and its thorny barbs...

and red crepe myrtle, roses, tulips, azaleas, peonies and tons more flowers...

Red sky at night, sailor's delight, red sky in the morning, sailor's warning...

And the reds of fall--red oaks and red sumac....

And of course, Redroom for Authors, how could I forget???

So what does red mean to you?
