Are You Addicted?

Ah, to be a happy-go-lucky wolf pup without an addiction in the world.

But what about you? Have any addictions?

I'm addicted to chocolate. There. I said it. Not that I can't go without, but why would I want to?

And reading. Yep. I have to have a story to listen to or read. I love books. I hear this from patrons at the library all the time--they ran out of books--the world crumbles before them. That's me. If I run out of an audio book when I'm still on the road between work and home, I have to resort to listening to music! Heaven forbid!!! Not that I don't love music, but I want to lose myself in another world. And I feel I've missed the opportunity to immerse myself in another story for all that long drive just because I finished the audio book.

I was talking to a patron the other day about it, and she said the funniest thing--"Don't you just hate it when you have to take someone in your car and you can't listen to your book?" LOL!!! I loved it. Because I thought the same thing!

And writing. If I miss writing even for a day, I go into withdrawal.

And romance. That comes with a book.

And happily ever afters. That comes with a book.

And Highlanders...and werewolves and vampires and....hmm, I really do have a problem.

And emails. I really didn't want to list this as one of my addictions because it's so bad, but yes, when I'm traveling or my internet goes down, I feel I'm totally out of the loop if I can't read my emails. Many are business related--fan mail, editor mail, etc, so it's important stuff!

And work. I have to admit I'm a workaholic. Always have been. Must be that Puritan work ethic. Not that there are any Puritans in my family tree...just saying...

So I'm off to work, but tomorrow I'm reading! And writing! And...well, if I grab a chocolate bar along the way, I will be in seventh heaven.

What about you? Have any addictions?

I'm with you on the chocolate, books and hot hunks. I have become addicted to Castle, but it's the only tv show I've made time for. If I get involved in anything else, I'll have no time for being a workaholic! LOL :)

I'm addicted to Venti Mocha Frappacino's. If I don't get one in the morning, I'm a little cranky. No, scratch that, I'm a lot cranky. Completely understand the addiction to chocolate, maybe this is why the cold coffee blend is my favorite. Uhmmm, the chocolate. Enjoy your trip and take lots of pictures to share. I'd love to post some in the newsletter...better idea-maybe you can write an article about your adventures for me!

Ooh, that Frappacino sounds delightful!!!! And something that could easily be addictive. I'd love to write an article for you, Anna Rose!!! Thanks for offering!

I have addictions...shopping and mirrors and STUFF. I love stuff. It might be mirrors today and candle holders tomorrow and sterling silver bracelets the next day. I'm insane over mirrors with metal edges that are made to look old even though they aren't. I love soda, Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi. Definitely addicted. If I'm out running errands, McDonalds has the best fountain sodas ever. And of course...men (MY MAN) and love. I've always been addicted to love.

Have a blast in Scotland!

LOL about the mirrors, Anita. I love mirrors also because it makes a room appear larger! :) I gave up my cola addiction for green tea! :) Ohmigosh, you all are making me think of all kinds of more addictions that I didn't realize I had. *sigh* You ought to go with us to Scotland too!!! Now wouldn't that be fun? A bunch of Highland romance authors running amok in Scotland? LOL

True confession time: chocolate, emails, and the office supply stores, especially at the start of school with all the cool new colors and gadgets. Also addicted to taking home all the soap and shampoo samples, slippers if they are free. I still have mine from the Ritz in Paris from a few years ago. Pens and notepads from the places I've traveled (my husband saves coasters).

Oh dear, this is getting out of hand. Better get back to the writing.

Terry Spear/Terry Lee Wilde said...

Free slippers from the Ritz? Now that's why they call it the Ritz, I guess, Sharon! How neat! I love office supply stores too, though I was disappointed none of them had wolf notepads. lol. I was reading a fun Scottish historical where the hero made the trip to Inverness to bring back chocolate for his lady, who was addicted to it. LOL Loved it!

I used to watch Castle right after Dancing with the Stars. Now I'me afraid I've switched to Hawaii 50!
The new show is great! Sorry Nathan, Alex beat cha out!

I'm addicted to chocolate and ice cream. And I'm passing it on to my kids because every Friday if they are good in school we stop for ice cream.

I think I'm addicted to collecting. I have Boyd Bear collections, lots of quilt fabric even though I don't quilt very often, tons of cross stitch charts. Lots of stuff I don't really do.

I HAVE to HAVE my internet and books. You will have to pry a book from my cold dead hands. :)

I also watch TV. Usually some type of crime drama or Sci-fi thing at night. But I'm getting better. I only need to see one or two shows a night. I used to have 4 to 6 shows. :)

Have a great trip Terry.

I confess, I'm a book addict too. I love Chocolate and Ice Cream and Peanut Butter. Together or alone. I do love music. And I love the Dancing with the Stars too!!! And So You Think You Can Dance. And I love reading Shifter stories with animals with big teeth and long tongues that turn into hot hunks. Especially wolves and large cats. I've never listened to a audio book. Hmm!!! I love Broadway musicals. And I'll listen to The Phantom of the Opera until I'm blue in the face.

Jessica, The same thing happened to me. Castle was my favorite too. But Alec has stole my heart. And Hawaii 5-0 is great. He's a former Navy seal. Terry you must check it out.

Chocolate and books are major addictions of mine too, as well as writing. I'm miserable when I can't write. Email not so much. I look on that as a necessary task. During baseball season, I'm also addicted to my local major league team, the Philadelphia Phillies. I actually try my hardest to work my schedule around their televised games.

Terry Spear/Terry Lee Wilde said...

Ah yes, Beth, I love ice cream and chocolate and mint too. So for me the ultimate addiction of late it Blue Bell Chocolate mint ice cream bars! :) Hey, calcium is good for you!!!

Oh, me too on the cross stitch stuff and for me it's fur because I make bears for orders, and have tons of patterns for other stuff I never use. I really need to clean out stuff!!

Okay, got to watch 5-0 if he's a former Navy SEAL, Donna. Now I've got to get my daughter to record it for me. Can't watch anything at it's regular time...

LOL, Susan. I'm fortunate I've never been interested in sports or I'm sure I'd have another addiction. But I'm with you. I have real fits if I haven't written something every day!!

Terry, I have the same additions except for audio books. Since I work at home, I have to have my CD player nearby.

Have a terrific time in Scotland. I envy you terribly. We've been twice, and would love to return there. Travel safe!

Terry Spear/Terry Lee Wilde said...

I so agree, Carolyn! What happens with me is that I can't stand leaving the story at a cliff hanger in the car, so I invariably bring it inside with me to finish off, then I HAVE to force myself not to put on the next CD so I can work on my own stories!

First, I must admit that I'm extremely jealous that you are going to Scotland. Do you need someone to tag along and carry your bags? I'm applying if the job is available. lol I hope you have a blast there.
My husband's pop is a retired Navy Seal and was stationed in Scotland for about 4 years. My husband was in the Marines and is now in the Navy. I know I'm addicted to my man in uniform. I'm also addicted to reading, Facebook, and good food. The first thing I do if I know we're going out of town, is look up where to eat in the area. If any of you like good food as much as I do, there's a great website called www.urbanspoon.com that lists all the local places to eat. There are ratings and reviews posted as well. I've found some great little food gems from this website. I haven't ever listened to an audio book, but I've been seriously pondering it. I think I should try one out with my Nook. One way to really figure out what you're addicted to is to look at your receipts and see what you spend the most money on.

Oh, Stephanie, the bags are going to be soooo heavy, I could use some help. Several wanted to be stuffed in them to go to Scotland, and I have to bring 2 Highlanders back for co-workers, well, and 1 for me too, so, it will take a lot of muscle. :)

How interesting about your hubby's dad having been a SEAL in Scotland! I never thought they'd serve over there. How fascinating! Hmm, that would make for an interesting story--father and son who were Navy SEALs. Oh, and yes, I had a hankering for men in uniform. Didn't do me any good, such as it was. LOL

Thanks on the weblink for restaurants. Well, on my card--it's gas and food. And lately, repairs of all kinds. *sigh*

Why yes, yes of course. I have two, and am quite happy about my addictions. There are worse things to be addicted to. The first is reading. I'm always reading, and am usually spotted at the library (about 2 min. from my house), or at the local bookstore. My second addiction is to...vanilla flavored coffees. And have no intention of giving up either one.

Oh, I almost forgot. I'm also addicted to werewolf romance novels. Author's name is Terry Spear, and am going to need more bookshelf space to accomodate all her novels.

Terry Spear/Terry Lee Wilde said...

I absolutely love your last addiction, witchy woman!! I have to say I am at the library way too much, but then again, that's because it's my job. LOL Although I do love my job...especially when it quits being a nightmare! :)
